If these are the updated model of the Mum86 which it appears to be as Bosch's on site lists it as a Mum86 also then this is a great price.
We have one of the original Mum86 version and love it, also had a Kenwood Titanium Major I think it was and would take the Bosch any day of the week over it.

With the Bosch you can have it sitting flush against the wall and the way it swings up it's no issues, most of the others require it to sit right out from the wall to allow for the pivot.

The Bosch it seems like they used all the others on the market, worked out what would be annoying and designed one to solve these issues.

  • Can this machine mix 3kg of bread dough?

    • I believe 500g is maximum if you dont want to destroy the machine.

      • Are you kidding me? Even my Panasonic bread maker can mix 600g dough.

        • +2

Sorry, my fault. I thoght you mean flour. It could make up to 3Kg dough

Easy pour: Extra big, brushed stainless steel bowl 5,4L,
equipped with two comfortable handles and a useful
spout - for up to 3,5 kg of cake mixture or 1,5 kg flour plus
      ingredients with yeast dough

  • Reading productreview.com.au for Mum86 model does not give me much trust into this one. Maybe its great and the fixed all the issues, but you spend your $400 on it to find out is up to you. Otherwise seems like a great price

    • This one is the updated model for MUM86. So you may read cotd reviews which are 100% 5 star rating

  • Its only few month old for them. What will happen in 6-12 months is still unknown. Maybe its great, was just saying to read verious sources of info and decide if the risk is worth it

Appliancesonline list is as a superseded model. Looking at reviews on COTD it looks like its been out at least since Oct 2015.
Could not find any other reviews except for COTD ones

Amazon UK has quite a few positive reviews on this model also

    • I did some research on model MUMXL20T which is the euro model. I didnt find any neg reviews on this model. At least for 4 star rating. So I believe it a reliab mixer. From other side, it is almost 70% off. Definitely worth what you pay.

  • If we haven't bought the Sunbeam already, I would consider this one.. The price difference can be largely accounted for already with the blender attachment alone, and it seems Bosch's attachments' prices are not too steep either, not to mention there is a larger range to choose from. However, not sure if this machine has pause and timer functions too like Sunbeam? If yes, then this machine is a no brainer!

    • Seems like just basic functions from the manual - no timer. But then again, I dont think KA has it either.
      I am still undecisive =(

  • Thanks, just bought one :).

Wanted to buy a mixer for few weeks and was waiting for a good deal :D

    • Did you get your mixer?
What do you think of that?

      • Received it last week, didn't have time to play with it, but so far used it to make a marble cake and it was perfect ;).

        • Thanks.

I missed this deal..but they have another one on atm which is $48 more… :(
I hate my kitchenaid and want to get one which is more powerful for bread.

        • @pearl2013: got mine. Pretty happy with it. I used it to knead a pizza dough last week and it did the job with no issues. The area with the motor didn't warm up at all, it didn't sound like the motor was slowing down at all and I couldn't detect any trace of that tell-tale smell of failing motor.

        • @simulacrum:
Great! I can't resist and ordered one for $412… I have heard some good review about it and it's attachment is cheaper than kitchenaid as well.

        • @pearl2013: Sweet. Let me know what you think compared to your kitchenaid. I'm pretty happy with mine and suspect the kitchenaid would not be as good with bread dough, but would be interested to hear someone with experience confirm it.

Whenever a kitchenaid deal gets posted and someone asks "Is this better than x-brand mixer" a bunch of kitchenaid owners who have never owned an x-brand product always say "definitely much better!" I'm sure its just a bit of fanboyism, but would be good to have someone else's testimony haha

          @simulacrum:

Hi there, just got my on Thursday and made a huge load of bread.

The machine itself is actually lighter than my kitchenaid, but when it's mixing 550g of flour it is more steady than the kitchenaid.
There is no way I would put so much flour into the kitchenaid…because it will start dancing on the bench top (normally use 300g flour) and the motor gets really warm after around 15 mins of mixing.

Also, all the ingredients mix really well and I don't have to stop the machine to manually help which I did all the time with my kitchenaid…
I don't understand why it has such a bad review on productreview.com.au however it's review is pretty good on Amazon and other oversea's website…
From my understanding, this series is way better than mum5 as mum5 has a lot of plastic parts where this one uses stainless steel.

  • FYI for those interested, found a website that gives a rough reference price for the attachments.. not particularly cheap though!

bought one, hope its as good or better than the kitchenaids/kenwoodchef.

you can also sign up their free clubcatch membership trial to take advantage of the free shipping. just don't forget to cancel it within 30 days.

    • It should be.

Bosch is a trustable and reputable brand. MUMXL20 is one of their high-end mixer product. Though at the latest but still good enough

Even in EU, you rarely find them under 400 EUR.

According to their RRP, this model aims higher market than Kitchen Aid normal model (150 155 156 160).

      • I bought one too.. it seems to have the same motor as the latest models (and, i imagine a similar gear assembly). The newer ones seem to be fitted with some fancy electronics.

        • You right, the newer flagship one only adds more sensor functions for easy use, but you have to pay at least double this price.

        • @John Kelvin: yeah not worth IMO.. Another bit of info wasn't able to find in my brief search is whether the gears are all metal, or all nylon or (like some of the kitchenaids) all metal with one nylon one that's designed to break and be replaced if you push the machine too hard.

  • Bought one as well, thanks op, don't have a mixer yet sofigure it is good enough.
