JB Hi-Fi 20% off All CDs, DVDs and Blu-Rays

450

Starting Tommorow 21st April JBHIFI will have 20% off all DVDs CDs and Blurays, I often get Blus from them during these sales and sometimes it works out a bargain. However be aware they are closed today for stocktake which means they may be jacking up their prices on some items before the sale starts so do your homework and know your prices :)

Thanks, will get a few blu-rays Thursday. Only one I got at the moment is Up. Jaw-dropping in HD.

    • the balloon scene… unbelievable.

      • Get Wall-E, equally awesome in HD. If I could only own one Blu Ray, this would be it.

        • Toy Story is supposed to be reference quality though not sure if it's out here yet

  • Yeah…..hopefully they have good titles on $15 dollar mark. Add the 20% it will be around $12 to build my BD collection nicely…:)

  • Is this only for one day?

    • I'm a bit confused too. It has "STARTS TOMORROW" flashing in red while at the same time the fine print at the bottom states "Offer Expires Today unless otherwise specified".

      • The 20%off sales ususually run at least 2 weeks there will probably be better info tommorrow

  • They indeed jacked up the prices, I bought 'New Moon' on bluray for $25 over the weekend, looks like it has been upped to $30, 80% is $24 so looks like I am $1 worse off. meh..

When they had their buy two get one free deals, I remember the prices were jacked up

      • This is pure OzBargain conspiracy talk. Everyone loves to think that there's some sort of covert campaign by retailers like JB to jack prices up just prior to discounting them. I can tell you that this is utter BS and if they did, they'd be cut to ribbons by the ACCC. They are red hot on this sort of commercial misbehaviour. There will always be examples of prices rising and falling around new campaigns and to focus on a few rises creates misleading impressions.

You bought New moon………….. have you no shame.

Worth noting with Blu-Ray, you're generally better off ordering from Amazon UK or Zavvi or Game UK or the like. Even after shipping. We're the same region (B) as them for BR.

    • Yeah, cheaper but proably a dealbreaker for those keen to get their stuff immediately. Placed an order for the matrix boxset and Ironman about 2 weeks ago at AmazonUK. Has yet to arrive.

Unlikely to arrive in hurry now due to backload of parcels held up due to volcanic ash

        • Forgot about that. Bugger.

20% off JB prices for CDs is fantastic. Thanks for the heads up.

  • $71.20 for the complete series of The Wire is a bargain!

  • The April catalogue ended today, there is no 'jacking up' of prices, rather pre-existing sales have ended.

The banners say the sale is on till Monday :)

  • Just a warning about this JB Hi-Fi 20% off promotion. I recently bought the John Mayer Blu-ray - "Where the light is" at JB Doncaster for the ticketed price of $19.99. Today it is listed on jbhifionline.com.au with the 20% off for the HOT PRICE of $29.59, but only until 25 April 2010. Gee I can't wait until 26 April! You were warned.

  • Updated on the site. Sale ends Monday.

  • Just came back from JB in the Galleries Victoria, not a huge amount of deals to be had to be quite honest, I remember the last 20% off sale being better(around January I think). Planet Earth on blu-ray was just under $50 I saw though which isn't bad. A lot of bargain bins with those romantic comedies and bad action films for around $12 though

    • Planet Earth on Blu-ray is listed today on jbhifionline.com.au at $75.19 with 20% off. No it is not just under $50 like in January 2010. However it is only on sale until 25 April 2010. By the way this is an excellent Blu-ray.
I just checked the price for this blu-ray on www.amazon.co.uk. How about 18.99 UK pounds including shipping to Australia. Amazon UK quotes this as being $32.64 Australian. Remember that blu-ray discs bought from the UK are region B, the same as Australia. Why pay more at JB?

  • The prices online are different to the prices in-store, most of the time they are the same but I've seen a few times that they don't match, and it says that on the website

    • On many occasions at JB HiFi stores I have had to ask them to price match their jbhifionline prices. On these occasions the store price has been higher than their online prices.

      • Just because you've had that happen on several occasions doesn't mean that in EVERY instance the in-store price will ALWAYS be higher. I know what I saw, besides what do I stand to gain by giving a misleading price? I am only trying to help others get an idea of what I saw, I didn't pull that price tag out of thin air

        • I don't pretend to understand your motives. It is important that members of the ozbargains community are not misled regarding the 20% savings that are being suggested by jb hifi. Therefore specific examples are cited of jb hi fi's actions. It was suggested that just under $50 was not a bad price for Planet Earth on blu-ray. Clearly this is not so, as cited in my www.amazon.co.uk example. Some posters are doing a disservice to the ozbargains community by herding them into jb hifi to pay prices that are clearly inflated for the local market. Wake up!

Nevertheless it is up to the consumers to decide. I've gotten Plant of the Apes Blueray for only $12.80. Can Amazon beat that (including delivery). And normally you need at least a few orders to bring the delivery down to $2 UK pound per BD. And not everyone buys in bulk.

Having said that, I have bought my Planet Earth and Band Of Brothersin BD in Amazon.uk.

    • It is a motherhood statement: "Nevertheless it is up to the consumers to decide". Who is going to disagree with you? It is easy to get seduced by hype of 20% off DVDs and CDs, but as my examples have demonstated, JB HiFi has increased their prices to more than cover the 20% discount.

Just buying Planet Earth on blu-ray you are paying over $17 more at JB Hi Fi compared Amazon UK, including delivery to Australia. Know one needs to buy in bulk to save money at Amazon UK. The afore mentioned example is for the purchase of one Blu-ray.

“Where the light is” - John Mayer Blu-ray at JB Doncaster has recently been available the ticketed price of $19.99. Today it is listed on jbhifionline.com.au with the 20% off for the HOT PRICE of $29.59 after 20% off.

Where is the real 20% off? Misleading and deceptive? Where is the ACCC?

  • Just got back. Only picked up The Dark Knight for 23 bucks. Rest were still a bit steep.

  • I don't work for JB Hifi but I am sure the pricing of any DVD/BD is based on what the distributor tells them. I am sure you found instances where the Disc gone up during the promo but that is just the timing of it. For instance I've gotten American History X on blue ray the last time they had the 20% off and it was ticketed at $15.80. A few weeks back I saw it at $24 or something like that. So I guess it all depends the timing of the titles you want. Even for The Dark Knight, it was $19.90 during the prior buy 2 get one free deal. After that the price went up to $24 (so was the Harry Potter series). Consumers just need to be smart and do a little bit of homework before they buy.

  • As I have a new bluray player now, wishing to start my bluray collection. Need some suggestions of a few good cheap blurays to get started. Anyone see any cheap ones at JB on sale? Doesnt really matter what genre etc (something with good visual and audio would be good) just want to get a feel for blu ray and utilise my HD LCD, Onkyo 606, 5.1 speakers etc.

  • Just thought I'd mention that JB online is not giving the 20% discount on cd's and dvd's today - although they are still advertising this deal for until Monday on their site.
