  • Looks like 165 is the normal price at pcmeal, nearly ready for some of these 2tb drives , how are they for reliability

    • $165 is old promotion price last week. This week PC Meal and WD work together to deliver a cheaper price!

shame for the rest of us who don't live near westfields! to use the 30 dollar gift card… i like the cheaper drive rather than being bundled and having to use a voucher… pretty dodgy.

I think the title is a bit deceptive, you should list the full price and add that you get a free 30 dollar card as the price of the drive is not 149!

I can never find that damn report button when i need it!

        • Agree with the misleading title and the bundled gift card

  • been issues with them… have a look at the last thread…

think id go samsungs at the moment, they seem to be decent speed, price and reliability. still about 20 bux more though for the "green" version… or slow ass drive as i like to call it, although they do spin at 7200 RPM…(unlike the WDs.)

    according to this site:
    http://www.itsdirect.com.au/com_products.php?view=detail&cat…

other sites have them at 5400….

bring on the samsungs for 149!

    • my samsung 1.5tb has the click of death , thats why i though i would try this one, will keep waiting , thanks for the advice

My Sammy 1.5tb is making strange clicking noises too

      http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=samsung+2tb…

Our Samsung 2TB is already the cheapest price :) And there is no 7200RPM 2TB Samsung in the world up to now. itsdirect.com.au should revise 7200RPM to 5400RPM. It's misleading :)

    • That site says they are only 5400rpm.

  • Only good if you can pick-up, don't bother getting delivered as it will cost $149 + $16 = $165.
However the WD Caviar 2TB is pretty good for media pc's, the drive stays cool even if left running for days as compare to Seagate 1.5TB or 2TB

  • I bought 2x1.5 TB drives from them 2 weeks ago. They are going good. I didn't get the 2tb ones as more platters = more noise. Not good for a htpc, and already the 1.5TB's are louder than my silent fans heh.

  • MSY has 2TB WD for $169

    • are the msy ones EARS model?

      • still get 20 dollars extra from this deal… if your one of the lucky 100….

  • this $30 promotion is across multiple retailers? and only to first 100 - its not many

    • This is currently for PC Meal first 100 customers! Other seller might have their first 100 customers in the future!

  • How many GB do these 2tb drives really have? as i have bought a few 1tb drives and they only seem to have around 930gb?????

also is this drive or the MSY one the same as this one at officeworks? if not whats the difference

    http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Dat…

if so it would be $156.75 after 5% pricematch to MSY….

    • officeworks would claim that theirs is retail edition so they wont price match it. It should be the same drive though but they might have the older EADS model.

and all drives have the same disparity with size. They always mention PRE format size - after format all drives lose that same percentage.
What is new though is with the new EARS models you can save some more space because of new software configurations but only if you're using windows vista or above.
