Pretty reasonable price at launch. Hope htc do well this year!!!

No mention of 700 here it seems. Plus, how will warranty work?

      • +8

        Isn't band 28 confirmation of the 700mhz?

      • No Aus warranty

        • Why wouldn't HTC warranty it in Australia if it's purchased directly from HTC? They don't have an AU RMA address at all?

        • +1

@justtoreply: HTC USA and HTC Australia is separate, they probably don't communicate with each other. HTC USA wouldn't have an AU RMA address as they don't operate in australia they just happen to be shipping the phone internationally this time.

        • @ko0l:

          Thanks

      • Band 28 is the 700 band for here.

        • -1

I was under the assumption that band 28 in other countries is not the same as the band 28 here in oZ.

This is going by reading some wiki pages and info at whirlpool.

        • +2

          @Hotkolbas:

700MHz in other countries is not the same as 700MHz in Oz, eg. 700MHz in the US is band 17. Band 28 is always band 28.

        • @dazweeja:

Ok so if a device says band 28 then it should work in Australia. I know that somw dwvices state the frequency but not the band number when lte first came out and some website still do it.

Anyway as long as everyone knows that they need to check thspecs to be 100% sure they will get what they look at.

Buyer should be aware of the following

I think the problems with this are that you're importing a US model designed for US carriers. This is a problem for Australia because:
      1. No Band 8 (900MHz) support - Makes use on Telstra not ideal (yes, Telstra do use 900MHz LTE)
      2. No Band 40 (2300MHz) support - Makes use on Optus not promising (Optus primarily use 2300MHz LTE)
      3. No TDD (Time Division Duplexing) support - I wouldn't use this on Optus at all. Optus rely on TDD for their high speed data.

      Looks perfect for Vodafone though.

The model we'll get in Aus will be this:

      UHL SKU (EMEA/Asia)

      2G/2.5G - GSM/GPRS/EDGE
      850/900/1800/1900 MHz
      3G UMTS
      850/900/1900/2100 MHz
      4G LTE (up to 450Mbps)
      FDD: Bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 28, 32
      TDD: Bands 38, 40, 41
Support Cat 9 LTE, download up to 450 Mbps, upload up to 50 Mbps

      (From the HTC site)
This model will properly support all Australian telco's and offer the best performance.

      • +1

Only 0.82% of Telstra 4G towers use band 8
        (From Telstra)

      • Optus uses FDD 1800 as the primary and 700 as primary high speed, they don't use TDD 2300 as primary other than in Canberra.

  • will be $1080 when it lands in Aus early May.

    Any link to prove this?

      • Thanks

      • +1

That's crazy. How do they expect to sell any lol.

        • +4

Galaxy s7 and LG G5 and HTC 10 and iPhone 6s all have similar price. Not crazy considering the prices for Local stock and Local warranty.

        • -3

@Bnjam3: yes, the s7 is significantly better though in every regard. Therefore crazy pricing from HTC.

        • +1

          @OnlinePred:

          in every regard

I'm not saying the S7 isn't better, as it is better in a few areas, but now you sound like a Samsung rep cause it's clearly not better in every regard.

        • @clse945111: Haha yea my bad. It mostly is though, better battery, screen, speaker loudness, water resistance, camera, looks(although subjective), etc. I have bought samsung up until the Note 4 and really wanted to jump ship as I was sick of the software lag that would creep in after a few months of use, but honestly they have the best hardware out there. This time around I wanted the HTC to be good, but history repeats and they always seem to miss the mark. I'm just saying that going by what most reviewers and users opinions (XDA), the hype train and fan train is the only thing driving the latest HTC 10 phone, and all in all is not worth the money when you can get S7 for nearly the same price. I would not consider LG g5 at all (although I am using G4 right now and also wanted G5 to be something amazing…)

When the company gives up nearly everything they are known for (speaker and audio output quality), and doesn't improve in any other way, seems only HTC loyalists would spend the $$$ on it.

    • +1

it's always crazy prices at launch unfortunately, it'll go down but not to the point that it'll be a bargain for a good while (talking about Aus stock)

  • -3

Buy like 5, sell it on gumtree or ebay above, at or below retail :D

"All purchases must be billed and shipped to a valid mailing address in the 50 United States" - I don't see an option for international shipping?

    • Forwarding service in USA?

      • +2

Sure, but it's just the OP said there was a priority shipping option for USD 37?

        • +1

The USD 37.11 shipping price should come up on the final confirmation screen, after inputting your payment method and shipping/billing address

  • So does this phone work in the US and AUS on 4g/lte?
Good phone to buy if moving to the USA next year?

  • -6

Specs seem pretty average compared to the Nexus 6P which can be gotten for around $570 and less atm.
    http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/HTC-10,Google-Nexus…

For some reason the HTC 10 is 0.35 inches thick while the 6P is only 0.29 inches. Weird

    • HTC 10 looks like a great phone, but have to agree, the 570 6P is incredible value with all things considered.

Not sure why you're getting negged so much.

  • +1

    lol good luck HTC

    HTC 10 - Best phone of 2016!

    • +2

So far, that title seems to be taken by Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

      • +2

I have the Galaxy s7 edge and seriously im hating the edge screen especially when typing or when scrolling in apps, but the battery is good and the device is crazy fast.

        • That was a problem for the first 2 days of getting the phone for me. Now it's not an issue any more.

The most recent update is supposed to fix screen sensitivity and accidental touch issues. Check for updates.

  • +1

Pretty good deal, Would say wait a little though, Samsung S7 is around $780 inc shipping and HTC flagships are usually $$50 - $100 cheaper than samsungs, Just my 2 cents.

  • Hope it's similar price when it actually launch in Australia!

  • +3

    $857 from Clove including hi-res earphones https://m.clove.co.uk/htc-10

    • Do clove offer PayPal now? A few years back I bought a HTC Titan off them for my dad and had to pay ~8% overseas card use fee, was a good 40+ on top.

      • Yes, PayPal payment is available now

  • +2

Still a little too much, hopefully HTC somehow figure out a way to sell it in Aus for 699.

This year's Nexi are apparently being made by HTC, Google may have learned their lesson with the 5X and 6P; don't over price or under power them, and as such we should see some compelling Nexus phones.

But options are still pretty good this year, hoping the new moto x and one plus are worthwhile, otherwise I'll just look for a 6P at years end, might be at the 399 mark by than!!

    • The mid range X9 is going to retail for $699 in Australia, so no chance of the 10 getting mear that price, locally, anytime soon.

      • Ahhh daam, there goes that price.

    • Back then M7 was sold at $759 at launch where AUD and USD were at parity…

      • Wow, those were the days!

  • +1

I'm in the market for a new phone, gf and I are currently using HTC One M7 that we've had for a couple years now. (Great phone btw, best phone I've used)

Why don't they just stick with the dual front facing speakers…. that's a huge selling point for me.

    • +1

Maybe go for X9 that's the newest release with dual front facing speakers

    • +1

You might want to consider Nexus 6P.

      • Speaker is not great if that is what he is after though. Although I don't mind it that bad.

    • I'm sure the HTC 10 sounds great in real life, I've heard the M8 compared to the M7 and it's a huge difference.
      It's still Boom Sound!
      Hope this helps. :)

    • +5

The M7 was a good phone however taking purple photos was a bit of a letdown. I have an S6 Edge now and miss the reliability of the M7.

      • They replaced phones that were doing this (if it was under warranty that is)

    • It still has dual speakers. One on the ear piece and one at the base of the phone. Sound should be pretty amazing still

      • -2

Reviews and user opinions (xda) put it below S7 output quality and loudness, also headphone quality is one of the lowest of the flagships for 2016 (although it is one of the loudest output).

        • +2

Not sure what reviews you are reading but every review has said the htc10 has the best headphone output of any smart phone ever. And some youtube reviews show the quality of the htc10 speakers better than the nexus 6p and htcm9.

And my gf has a s7 edge the speakers are horrible.

        • Yeah, everyone has been saying the 24 bit dac sounds amazing with headphones. The S7 has bad audio quality due to the waterproofing I believe.

        • @knowskillz: 6P speakers are terrible. I have read first hand comparisons on XDA (which I cbf finding)

          http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/04/19/htc-10-review-a-very…

  • -6

    12MP camera? C'mon HTC.

    • Are you serious?

    • LOLL you wouldnt say that if you had the 20mp M9 …. you'd be like hooray HTC! I'd take the 4mp from the M7 and M8 over the M9 one hehehe (i own one)

    • MP =/= Quality

      • Unless you want to zoom in on a picture.

  • Has anyone actually taken delivery of öne in Australia

    • some peeps on Whirlpool have

      • It's a pretty order so I'm not sure how that's possible. Plus no one has actually posted up any images.

I have put the silver with black face in my cart and didn't go ahead with the order and have just received an email with free shipping. I'm not sure if it applies to Australia but I'll give it a go. I'm not worried about warranty but will need to fork out at least and extra $100 to buy the Australian QC 3 charger and the headphones. If I pay a few extra dollars I can get the 64GB one from QD with better warranty

        • How is QD warranty?

        • @windwai:

They are very good. I had an issue and they sent a courier free of charge to pick it up from my address. I also had the same experience with T Dimension.

I will only use TD and QD to buy from overseas

        • @eneloop: What is QD? I missed it.

          EDIT: eBay seller?

  • SO basically, for around $256 more you get local warranty & free headphones? plus 10% GST back if you are a frequent traveler bringing the price down to $972 ($152 difference) , I need a new phone, and this does look great, but I think I might go for the local option. (sorry if the numbers are slightly off)

  • Just bought one for the mrs… we're both on Telstra, in VIC, so should be ok.. only three towers on band 8 here.

Also confirming the code is still working as of now :)

  • Code not working now.

  • Out of curiosity, has anybody's phone been shipped out yet?

    • +1

Mine hasn't, just emailed support to try and find out what's happening.

      • Phones have been shipping out since last week but only to US/Canada/UK it seems

  • HTC1011 works as an alternative code.

  • Finally got the shipping confirmation today :)
According to FedEx it was shipped out 17 May
