Wish it was the Samsung 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Fit (MUF-128BB/AM). The speed is around 35MB-90MBps and doesn't burn your finger.

    • You didn't get it when it was $49 last week?

      • +1

No, have you got a new code for that?

        • nah mate sorry. they've taken it down from their website too.

        • +2

The old code MM5FB still works, I used it earlier to get the Samsung for ~$50.

Fyi,if paying via Paypal you will get a %2 surcharge (.90c)

    • I thpught Paypal policy states that you are not allowed to have surcharges for Paypal transactions.

      • If PayPal charges in a currency other than AUD, your bank will impose a currency conversion fee.

        • cs stated a surcharge, not conversion fees.

    • Cheers TA, added to OP.

  • Is the getting too hot thing an issue if I want to plug into my car stereo ?

My current one sticks out too much and gets bumped.

    • Then you may as well get usb2 if that's all you are doing with it.

    • I have a few 32gb ones which sometimes fail when I use it on my htpc due to the heat issue.
But for the car I've had no dramas. In fact I've just finished an 8hr drive and didn't fail.

USB2 in an ultrafit size is no cheaper from I can see.

    • Not an issue. Main issue with heat (I've observed) is when it's connected via a USB 3 interface (even without any transfers), but I doubt your car uses 3.0.

It wasn't too long ago I remember buying a 128Mb Flash Drive… now we can buy tiny ones 1000x larger. Just Wow!

I waited couple of years for the prices to come down. I finally pulled the plug on a 64MB one for $94. I thought it was the coolest thing. Used to wear it on a lanyard. Used to be a conversation starter. People would marvel at the massive storge device hanging off my neck.

      • Did you get comments like: Wow, look at the massive dongle on that guy.
or "I wish I had a USB dongle that big"

        • Freud would have cited dongle envy…

passersby would whisper "Is that USB 2.0 or 1.1? It can't be 2.0?!"

        • USB 2.0 wasn't around back then. Came out a year or two after, but sure was faster than 64KBPS of floppys.

    • Yes, I still have mine. It was a bargain at $19. The next year, I went to BigW to get a 1Gb flash drive. The chap said the 2Gb size had just been delivered and it was $69. I couldn't pay him quick enough. I didn't see a better bang-for-buck deal for nearly 18 months. Last year at Woolworths I scored 11 of those 16Gb USB3.0 flash drives for $2 each!

  • I have a 32GB one of these. FYI They get very hot!

    • I thought of a solution to this.. a cheap 30cm usb 3.0 extension cable. If it heats up the only thing it will melt is the usb cable.

Jumping in with the ERHMEHGERD THEY GET SO HOT issue.

If you can get them, the Samsung ones are basically the same thing, but without the heat issue.
I use my SanDisk one now as a Mac Diagnostics boot drive (full OSX install on there to mess with stuff). It does still get uber hot, but hasn't failed because of the heat yet.

These seem to be older version with 130MB/s. Amazon one in the post is the latest version with speed 150MB/s

i-Tech do have the latest version but expensive

    • Indeed

  • Yeah your not kidding, these things pop out of USB 3.0 interfaces almost hot enough to burn, great drives though. Haven't had any issues because of the heat but it still can't be a good thing for longevity.

  • Went the samsung one as review are much better and runs MUCH cooler. Same price almost.
