  • I'll be ordering some custom seat covers!

How long is it valid until?

    • Ends Wednesday

    • how good are their custom PU leather seat cover? worth it?

      • Ive been asking that question everywhere I can.

Seems very few people have bitten the bullet so far.

        • when you get yours let me know

  • +1

Wow, that makes the Sidchrome set a steal.

    • +10

A steal would be to go in store and grabbing it and running out.

      This would be a bargain

      • FML i jsut ordered it - Ozbargainers worst nightmare!

      • That would be 'to steal' not 'a steal', but I get what you're trying to say.

        • +3

          ahh

to steel or not to steal that is the question.

        • @Turd: are we making puns still?

        • @altomic: not still, steal

        • @figarow: Stihl?

    • I'm pretty new to sockets, as dumb as that might seem to some. I'd like to get into more mechanical work, and I'm a beginner but I'm looking for an all round set and of course like a true OZbargainer at heart, I don't want to spend too much. Ideally around $100 or so. Can anyone recommend something? I've been looking at Stanley sets at SuperCheap, but not sure which way to jump.. Ideally doing simple things like oil changes on my car, taking apart and attempting to repair old lawn mower or garden shredder etc..

      • get this

        • Okay, thanks Saffers. Like I said, I don't have heaps of experience, is there any reason you'd suggest this set? I've seen some of the Stanley sets that have more sockets for less, but of course I don't expect that necessarily means that they're better.. Any thoughts on that?

        • I have the Stanley set and for the money is good all rounder ….nice thing is 1/4" if working on bicycle and 3/8 for cars …..I don't use much 1/2" anymore and they are chrome vanadium so as tough as most other brands.

My spanners are German so no bargain there .

        • @garage sale: Thanks Garage Sale. Any particular size sockets that you think I should be looking out for? As in particular dimensions that the set should have? Or perhaps are there any of the Stanley sets that you think might be appropriate? Thanks heaps :)

        • @Jawanzar: get this Stanley 69 piece socket set for $65. add another $35 to take advantage of the $20 off.

69 piece set covers pretty much all the socket you'd ever need.

        • @altomic: Thanks for the advice Altomic & the heads up on the deal :) Cheers

      • Stanley will be ideal. Get the set when it is cheap and you have nothing to lose with life time warranty. By the sounds of what your doing, you will not need anything above 30mm.

        • Okay I think you're prob right gza, thanks :)

      • @Jawanzar

I picked up zillions of cheap tools from swapmeets. And even household annual roadside throw outs.

Fixing cars is funny. You need a lot of tools. But moreso tons of the tools in a set you'll never use. Eg. 18 or 20mm sockets never used, but 14, 17 and 19mm are commonly needed.
Anyway rusty old good quality sidchrome tools, beat shiny butter brand chinese crap anyday.
I don't know nowadays but stanley made ok quality. Kingchrome and Sidchrome work for a lifetime.

Just some thoughts from a backyard mechanic.

        • Thanks for the thoughts niagra bzo, I'm pretty novice worthy at cars but I'll keep an eye out for garage sales and such :) Thanks for the advice

    anyone recommend any pressure washers?

  • I will be stocking up on oil ready for my service

  • $79 for the SCA Tool Bag - Handyman, 126 Piece: http://imgur.com/RI2uCGC

  • +3

or we could just wait for their 20% which happens so often anyway

    • +1

That is true, you'd be silly to pay full price at SCA, kinda like Kathmandu

    • If you use it on the right product this is a 20.2% discount :)

Maybe you can double dip if the price of the item is recorded in their system as full price when the 20% sale hits next you will get club credit??

      • Only if within 30 days no?

        • Yeah I think its 30 days but long weekend coming up which normally means 20% off

  • +1

thanks OP, bought a whole bunch of stuff I don't need will get yelled at by missus but ohwell

    worth

  • Perfect. Needed some oil, costs $102. Thanks OP.

    • +1

Which did you go with? Canola?

      • +1

Rapeseed - purely because I don't know what it is and the name of it is offensive.

  • Online order have to join the Club Plus membership first. But it(the membership card?) had to be delivered in 2-5 days. Could I come to one store to join the membership instead of purchase the membership with delivery?

    • +1

I joined the other day when buying an antenna, mostly for the spatula :p

Anyways, we tested it out so did the card payment before the antenna to see if it was instant email activation. It wasn't, took about five minutes. So sign up when you walk into the store and by the time you browse your email should have come through for you to activate the $10 credit.

A lot of info you don't need but someone else may be interested in. So yes, you can just visit a store rather than waiting for delivery :p

      • Thank you so much for the info. I will join the membership in store today :)

  • +1

Why not shop at sparesbox. They also stock Wesfil filters.

    • Didn't know about them, thanks for the heads up!

  • Other than the case, would this be a better deal than the sidchrome?

    http://m.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/Stanley-Mechanics-Too…

    • Brilliant set, I have a very similar one.

      • Do you know how big the sockets are? I need a 32mm but can't find any info on sizes…

        • 32mm?!?

That's truck size, I'd recommend a very large shifter.
You wont find a 32mm in any off the shelf set, try Trade Tools.

        • The Sidchrome set has a 32mm socket.

        • @Dalton: Yep, I noticed that. I think I'll go with that one!

        • @MasterScythe: I need it to remove the rear wheel on my motorcycle

    • +1

I purchased that set from SC on sale for $99 so best to wait.

  • Thanks. i purchased the office racing chair with join the membership. i only pay $69+$5

  • Any recommendations for a good value battery charger to take advantage of this offer?

  • Anyone else's order get cancelled overnight?
