But the no-bookings policy didn't impress comedian Jerry Seinfeld in 1998. Maccarone said: ''His people rang three or four times to try to get a table. I said, 'We'd love to have Jerry. Send one of your people to get a table, then ring Jerry.' '' Seinfeld didn't come and Maccarone thought that was the end of it, but the next day, an irate hotel concierge lambasted him for not accommodating the American. Seinfeld later labelled Melbourne ''the anus of the world''

That sounds like great value today but doesn't sound like very good value for 1986…

    Ozbargain dinner meet-up?

    • Chances are it'll be ozbargained if you get there for dinner.

      (I'm gonna try tho'!)

  • I actually eat out quite a bit in Melbourne, but never heard of Mario's until today.

    Anyway, a good read.

    +1 for creativity

  • Currently a wait time of 2 hour. Saw Mario himself come out to suss out the crowd!

    • Paid a grand total of 18 bucks for the 2 of us. Food was 4/5. Waited for about 75 mins, was one of the last people to make the cut. Mario shooed the rest away.

      Overall, good experience :)

        75 minutes! That's dedication.

        • Watched some Netflix as I waited in line, so time flew.

Ps: thanks Neil for posting this deal!
