I would highly recommend checking them out in a store before to make sure you are happy with the (lack of) quality before buying online…
I completely disagree with you from my experience. I've had 3 pairs and they look (almost) brand new after 12 months. I think they're great value.

I have been buying these shoes for a while I like their styles but it's definitely a short term relationship. They have them tuned "just so". The uppers continue to look good for the life of the shoes, but the sole and heel have definite and quite young life limits. IE they wear out fast and are not replaceable Planned obsolescence.
