You can get a free blood pressure check any day by donating blood!

    • Which is once every 3 months.

      • You can donate plasma every 2 weeks though.

    • +1

You can get a free blood pressure check at many pharmacies as they work with the stroke foundation.

However, if you do have a blood pressure issue, the best way is still to check it at home in a controlled environment so it is not affected. After all it can be a bit high naturally after walking in the shopping centre for a while etc

  • +1

Chemist Warehouse also doing the free blood check any time.

    • +4

Everytime I want to ask something, Can't find any staff at chemist warehouse. Maybe they Are busy doing free blood test?

  • +2

Don't most chemists do free blood pressure checks??

  • I hardly ever go to a chemist, to be honest, so I had no idea. I have taken down the blood pressure check now!

Is this the same model, shipped from UK for $53.34?
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Omron-M2-Classic-Digital-Automati…

    • Looks similar - from Amazon.
I hate Omron for releasing similar models with different names.

    Cheap ….

For all those commenting that their pharmacy will check BP, that's all well and good, but I ask my patients to collect BP twice in the morning and twice in afternoon if they have high blood pressure for a few weeks when deciding to commence meds, and then twice daily after stable.

From my experience omron is a reliable brand.

    However:
    - please check cuff size
    - many people with high BP have large arms and standard cuff isn't big enough, too small a cuff will result in over-estimating BP, too big a cuff results in under-estimating BP.

And thanks to OP, my practice is buying a heap of these as loaners to patients

  • Thanks my mum was actually just looking to buy this one.

    • +1

If your mum has a private insurance, she might be able to claim some $$$. You normally get a lot more rebate from BUPA a year or two ago but I believe you still can get some.

      • Oh really I didn't know that? How would she claim it? Just take the receipt to them and say her GP asked her to buy one? Thanks for the heads up.

        • She just took the receipt from ChemistWarehouse to Bupa.

I paid $45 on eBay a few months ago.

Not sure what the difference between Basic/Classic/Standard is, but if you just need pressure then Basic is fine.

For those saying you can measure blood measure at a chemist, yes you're right.. But if you're using this as a way to argue against this being deal, come on.. That's like saying a board game deal isn't a deal because you can play for free at your local library..

Or a tomato sauce deal isn't a deal because you can just get it free from maccas…

    • The post originally referred to Priceline also offering free blood pressure tests.

  • Chefdillu is right! CWH will beat PL!

I actually saw CWH put this model on sale for about $60 a month or two ago. Omron regularly goes on sale @ CWH. However $45 on ebay is the cheapest price i Heard.

Dad needed a larger cuff for his fat arms sk he got CWH to order one in. Cant remember the price but probably about $60?

This deal sounds like a rip off, I checked ebay.in and same model showing for rs 1500 which is roughly 30$….. Why the heck these pharmas ripping Aussies

    • +1

Funny enough, but Omron themself are selling for Rs 1500, i.e., $30 AUd or less

ACCC should be pulling up their sleeves on these companies over pricing the products in australia over other countries where the taxes are under 10% on imports whereas in India the Customs duties are over 35% and still they can afford to sell it at 30$

In australia this deal is one of the lowest, But then are you happy about it ?

        • -2

What can you do though? If somebody is willing to pay for it at that price then its all fair game. If you don't like the price, then import it yourself.

Its like saying "A house in India costs $x however an identical house in Australia costs 10x the price…. therefore ACCC must get onto them and stop it!"

Before trying to fix the prices in Australia, ACCC should look into Profit Gouging from all major banks in Australia…

    • It is already established that we pay "Australia tax". Paying more for a product just because you live here. The sad part the govt doesn't care.

  • You can pickup these on ebay for around the same price sent to your door. Example is $3 more if you cant find a priceline or lazy to travel

    Omron in title please.

  • Most health funds let you claim some of the cost if you have extras. Just need a pharmacy receipt in your name to claim.

  • Thanks OP, picked one up, looks like a decent little unit.

  • These ones are bad if you have low blood pressure. Hardly ever reads accurately if it dips below 110. Not very sensitive either as any loud noise makes an error while it deflates down.

  • As others have mentioned, just buy overseas from eBay, Omron have so many products which are more or less the same. I bought the same unit for <$40 delivered, it was this one http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/171925912666?_trksid=p2060353.m27… (price has gone up since, or our dollar has gone down). Delivery was roughly 2-3 weeks. It works a treat!

  • Thanks , Got one from Chemist Warehouse with price match.

  • Got one from a Chemist Warehouse, but it took around 15 mins and 3 members of staff before they agreed to match Priceline, and refused to do the "Beat by 10%" thing … Same as always for me. I don't think I've ever found a business that actually adheres to their advertised "we'll beat any price" policies.
