      No toilet humour please

      • Without humour, you die from the inside out. :'(

        • Does it have to come from the toilet though? :(

        • If you don't eat you don't shit, you don't shit you die.

        • +2

Better out than in, I always say.

        • sharing is caring

        • You guys are on a ROLL :)

          Sorry, that was bad

How do these compare with Sandisk Ultra II or Samsung 850 Evo/Pro?

    • +4

Intel produce very high quality SSDs that are very reliable.

    • +4

User benchmarks show that the 850 is significantly better, but I don't know if i'd make straight conclusions from that.

    • +2

Samsung 850 is faster than both the other two by a fair bit; Ultra II and Intel are comparable speed wise, though Intel seems better under heavy loads. Does it matter in real world scenarios? Probably not. Intel is MLC though, if that matters to you.

      Intel 535 : 16nm MLC memory
      Warranty: 5 years
      Speed: Read 540 / Write 490

      Sandisk Ultra 2: 128Gbit 19nm TLC
      Warranty: 3 years
      Speed: Read 550 / Write 500

Samsung Evo Pro: Samsung 3D V-NAND MLC
Warranty: 5 years for capacities up to 1TB, 10 years if you buy the 2TB version.
      Speed: 550 MB/s / Write 520

    • +1

For real speed of system drive, Samsung is lot faster because of intel's read speed is much slower, pls ignore the maximum speed.

      • +3

Speed is not the focus of many Intel 500 series drives, they are built to be reliable.

Most / all of the Intel 520 / 530 / 535 series are all beaten by the high end versions of Samsung Evo's (Pro series) and better Crucial 'M' series drives.

Note it's $199 at MSY, so you're only saving a few bucks.

    • -4

I guess it would be better if the price offered was $203?

    • Same at PCCG, but this includes delivery.

    • +11

lol $4 saving rather buy from msy today then wait days for it.

  • Amazing price for the Intel 535 480GB

    • +1

not that amazing….. As noted above it can be had for $199 from MSY and pccg.

Hey TA, can you do any deals on M.2 2242 SATA SSDs?

    • +2

Throw in some M.2 NVMe SSDs too please.

  • +2

    damn…. just bought 1

  • Pull my finger

  • Is this compatible with Macbook Pro 15" mid 2010?

    • If it's one of the fat ones you can upgrade, then sure.

  • +1

Had two intel 80GB G2 SSDs running in RAID0 for the past 6 years, now retired to my media rig. Hasn't missed a beat. Touchwood.
    Would buy again.

  • How do these compare to the Samsung 850 EVO?

    • +3

Long life and reliability go Intel
Consumer Grade SSD built for speed go 850 EVO

SATA3 is the biggest bottleneck, so who really gives a crap about speed these days on SATA3 ssds. Get an m.2 NVME if you want speed

      • Does the 850 Pro have both speed and reliability? Or is it still less durable/reliable than the Intel?

        • No, it's very reliable relative to most SSDs out there. IT has a 5 year warranty.

It is the best selling SSD on the market currently (Samsung 850 EVO). No other SSD comes close in terms of number of purchases.

The Samsung 850 Pro comes with a 10 year warranty and the extra cost isn't so bad on Amazon at least! :D

    • Thanks guys, did a bit of digging myself too.

    • +1

when the others say long life, it only means can write data lot more times compare with 850 evo. If you are not intend to write 30GB+ data everyday onto the SSD, the 850EVO is a much better choice. For the reliability/quality, Samsung's retail drive is one of the best.

  • I keep getting 'Bad Gateway', when I try to pay with paypal.
I guess it wasn't meant to be.

  • +1

Glad I purchased mine from Kogan the other week. $168, woo

  • I've had both Intel 320 and 535 series, never missed a beat!
