How on earth does the shaver shop stay in business? It seems such a niche category - all of which can be bought from so many other bigger competitors

    • A business only has to break even to remain viable.

Reasons for maintaining such a business could be for tax purposes, tying up money in assets etc.

I believe they are owned by Target? (According to Wikipedia at least.)

    • I'd imagine it would do good annual trade on birthday gifts for men and cash in at Christmas. No evidence, just a hunch. It doesn't seem viable through the eyes of an ozbargainer but you have to remember these places only exist in foot traffic areas which tells a lot about its business model.

  • I bought the Colgate ProClinical C250 from coles for $30, and if you can still find it at that price, buy it.

I didn't like it at first, but after a few uses, it is much better than the Oral B electric brush.

Colgate Proclinical series definitely cleans your teeth more thorough (I have both types). But, if you have sensitive gums - be careful as brush seems more aggressive. Proclinical series comes in a few models. Get a more expensive model where you can adjust the mode and speed. Standard speed on the proclinical (C250 ??) my gums can't tolerate.

I liked the oral B brushes a lot, but I have gum problems and my dentist says the circular rotation of the brushes was eroding my gums and to switch to the sonic brushing style brushes.

Just his advice - no idea if other dentists agree.

      • What about Philips Sonicare?

I think the pulsation strength of Colgate is too weak.
Try touching the back of the brush head with your finger like how your inner cheek would when the brush head is in your mouth, you will find the pulsation literally stops, which is no good.

I don't really like Colgate that much for this reason, it is impossible to avoid touching your inner cheek when brushing molars.

  • I bought one of their Oral-B $99 toothbrushes on a previous deal and now they don't sell the cross action heads for them anymore……

  • I like this toothbrush and this just post reminded me to put in a search alert for replacement brushes.

    • just did the same thanks to your post.

But I'm wondering why a Collingwood supporter even has the need for toothbrush heads. Probably gifts for friends I s'pose!

      :)

        Ha Ha.

BTW this deal did come up a few hours ago in case your search alert went in afterwards https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/242807. It doesn't seem to be too much of a saving if you look at the comments (Chemist Warehouse have them 6 for $32 all the time).

  • I bought the Pulsonic last week on sale for $49 and am pretty happy with it. Very different to the usual rotating head though.
