I used to have this gripe too, but just got used to it, and now prefer it. You can reorder the channels manually but its cumbersome :(
Picked this one up during the 20% off Ebay deal for my parents at $636 (bless C&C) and still think this is a great price. Beatiful crispicture, very pleased with the product overall.
$660.25 with this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/241222
Thanks for that link. What's the advice on 'holding' this TV at TGGuys, whilst buying the ecard? I haven't done this before. Do I then take the ecards into TGG?
This or the Aldi: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/240211?
Read up on that one, just because it says Ultra HD doesn't necessarily mean that it's better quality. I'd go with the trusted brand personally. But for the extra 5 inches, it's your call.
55-48 = 7
Sorry I've been reading up on so many TVs I totally forgot which thread I was writing in (obviously thought it was a 50"). I can actually do math believe it or not ;)
Bear in mind the response when searching through menus is really slow.
You mean the smart features?
What about the non-smart aspects? Is changing channel speed acceptable?
As far as my experience with both my sonys have gone, no it's not acceptable - I have an older 40 inch LCD (not LED), and including this new one that sits at my in-laws' house, both response times have been slow. It's slow to the point of annoyance, as you think it hasn't registered, and thus press the number again, only to cause the TV to add the extra digit thus giving the bad/wrong channel.
Any Sony TV owner care to give some positive results?
Is it a bad idea to use this as a computer monitor?
Only that it's a 48" 1080p screen it should be fine. Most branded TVs support 4:4:4 chroma subsampling which is required for PCs.
I'm using my 42 inch 1080p Sony TV which is a similar model to this as a computer monitor at the moment and its fine as long as you aren't sitting as close to it as you usually would with a normal sized 24 inch monitor. Its just too damn big to sit that close, and thats only the 42 inch model.
Thanks guys, appreciate the help!
i've got an older (say 2-3 year old) sony TV. When I first turn it on, there's all these lines that run across the picture. After about 10mins of these lines, the screen clears up and is back to normal - anyone know what could be causing it??
This may be of help.

Good TV, got it with the last deal. Only gripe is that even though you can get plex with it, you need a plex subscription to actually use it :'(
Interesting, although a chromecast for $29 would solve that issue I guess.
Or free Plex via ps4/Xbox? Theres a deal posted on here.
FYI I have the 32 inch Sony (2.5 years old) and PLEX works seamlessly on it.
These new Sonys can play MKV files off USB? No Cinavia? Thanks
BING LEE also has it at the same price, should be able to drop the price further with a bit of bargaining between retailers
What would you suggest is a good size range for a not very big bedroom? This is 48" sounds huge … that's a diagonal screen measurement?
For the price id go the 48", may seem big at the start but you will adjust to it quick, friend got one for small bedroom no complaints about it..
I'm interested, does anyone use this TV to play PS3?
I currently am experiencing problems with my newly purchased PS3 since it stopped working with my Samsung BX2440 monitor which I connected using a DVI to HDMI cable.
It worked perfectly for a few days then the monitor progressively flickered and eventually stopped working altogether. I've tried every trick in the forum only to get a flickery 576P and then totally not work again.
Good Tellie for the money, very good picture, even if they are only 50hz. Only problem I have with Sonys is the channels go in broadcaster order and not numerical. Confuses my old man no end.
