Best things to spend Play Store credit on?

I just switched to telstra from boost and now I have a heap of Telstra prepaid credit to use up on the Android Play Store.

Years ago I use to convert my telsta credit to Viber Out credit so I could call overseas. This was done through the app and charged to the Play Store.

Apart from media, what other stuff can I use my telstra credit on?

Are there any good media subscription companies that I can purchase a subscription for? Can Skype credit be purchased through the Play Store?

Google Play Music All Access is good. If you just want to turn your credit into cash, checkout this app. It gives you a 55% rebate on your credit (30% goes to Google, 15% goes to app developer).

    • So if you had $10 left over, you get $5.50 back via paypal? I'm confused. Whee does the app purchase come in?

      • you buy there app so they get the money and then they send the 55% to you via Paypal

        • As in when you buy it from google play or when you purchase in-app?

        • @Ughhh: In-app

    • Can anyone else vouch for this app?

@tassieeagle there is 9 reviews on the play store and they are all 5 Stars. I personally have put over $230 through it and got the money the next day.

    • Hmm why the negs?

People trying to keep it secret so it doesn't get shut down. There's another one called T-cashback been mentioned in OzB before and got the same reaction. It's only 50% rebate though

    • this is pretty cool idea. I should make my own app to do this. lol

you wouldn't be the only one :)

  • Movies, music, music all access, ebooks, comics, office365

  • I would recommend swift keys or Swype if you don't have it. Its a good alternative keyboard, better than the stock ones that comes on phones these days a. Also look at textra, an sms app.

  • Does anyone know if it's possible to buy a few months of Google Play Music All Access at a time?

      Yes this is possible.

Open Google Music, On your Telstra (Carrier Billing Enabled Phone)
Open the Burger Menu (The button at the top right, resembling three horizontal lines)
      Select "Send gift"

On this screen you can buy 1, 3 or 6 month subscriptions using your Telstra Credit.

Once you've chosen the length of subscription your willing to pay for.
You will be given the opportunity to send the gift. (Since this is likely to be for yourself in the future send the gift to your own email address)

On the next screen, you'll confirm the cost.
Make sure it says Carrier Billing and not your Credit Card or Google Play Balance (if you have any)
If not press the pointing down arrow, then select "Payment Methods" and choose "Bill my Telstra account".

      Click BUY

You'll be sent a code to your email. You can keep this code and enter it anytime you wish.
OR you can enter it into your phone straight away. You can repeat steps above and enter multiple codes as they stack.
Giving you as many months as you can afford from your Telstra balance.

If you don't enter them all into your account, you'll have the option to give codes to friends in the future if you ever choose to discontinue using Google Music.

Be warned, I'm not sure how long these codes last.
I just added a code, I did this exact process on from Feb 15th when Google was offering months at a reduced cost.
I was able to apply the code I purchased in Feb, so these are valid for at least a month.
Since Google makes no mention of expiry dates in the gift email I would assume they last forever.

Hope you found this information helpful.

    EDIT: wrong link

  • If anyone has been targeted with the '75% off a single album' deal on Google Play Music and wants a mix of rock music, this is pretty good.

    101 songs for $4.50 :)

One disadvantage that I can't seem to get around is that any songs with explicit lyrics are censored, even in the MP3 download.

Anyway, I'm sure there are other ways around such things :)
