Read the fine print if they charge a Brokerage fee, which quite often is higher than the savings made.

  • Never used such service before so wondering if we get same premium via these guys compared to buying directly from provider (Frank in my case)? Any idea? If same then worth going through these guys to get $100 GC.

the fees you pay would be the same as going directly through the company. Some of these companies sometimes have additional discounts available - however these type of discounts can always be had through the health insurance company directly. The discounts are obviously better than nothing, but they won't be huge so to speak because the health insurance industry is heavily regulated.

A word of warning, many of these companies that do comparisons dont have all the products available that the actual Health funds have. your better off doing your own research and once u find what plan u want then going through one of these companies to get the voucher etc.

considering they make a staggering $700 off the average family health insurance policy as a commission just for signing you up… $100 back to you is hardly an amazing deal.

These services are utterly useless except at making commission. They only cover select products and services from a small number of companies so they don't offer a valid comparison so their name is misleading at best.

Many of these companies have been fined for misleading conduct but as usual the fine is a tiny percentage of how much they make so they continue to mislead consumers.

Better off paying a few dollars to access the choice reviews on health insurance where you really can compare them all without any bias.

I'm negging the deal based on this being of little use for anyone researching and has the potential to cost the OzBargainer thousands of dollars.

  • I hate the scare tactics in the tv ads. These guys are liars (I count misrepresentation as lying) and scumbags.
