  • Is that a modem/router ready for NBN?

    • Which nbn?

  • TPG NBN

    • +1

That's not a type of NBN - TPG has their own fibre to the building product, but they also sell NBN services. NBN services are either fibre to the premises (you would have a white NBN Co branded box inside your house), fibre to the building/node (you have no equipment inside your house), or fixed wireless (you have a dish on your roof).

This is suitable for connections where you have an NBN box inside your house or fixed wireless. For any other types of connections, you need a VDSL2 modem as well to connect to the internet, which can (in bridge mode) work with this router. Or, you can get an all-in-one device with both a modem and router inbuilt, though your ISP will provide one usually.

  • Thanks so much for your reply, Passa.

I think we got NBN Co branded box (we have not bought the service yet. Still looking at our options).

I believe when I decided to get the TPG NBN they will come in and install the Co brand box in my study. The service comes with the Netcomm NF12, which from what I read it is crab.

Is that correct to say that I can not plug ASUS Wireless Router RT-AC87U - AC2400 direct to the co brand box. But can connect the Netcomm then plug in the ASUS to Netcomm?

Instead of having two devices which will consume more power is there a modem/router product you could suggest that is on par with ASUS above.

    Thanks again.
