  • Is this the exact same program posted in http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/17807 ?
I see they support Windows 7 now.
Did they anything extra in the program (like annoying nag screen, etc)?

    • This 9.5 personal, the other one was professional.

  • Noticed this…

"You must register to get free serial. Important: you will receive a special offer: 30% discount for the new Partition Manager 11 when released. (if you agree to receive special offers from Paragon)"

So looks like there is a new version on the way (not that that means this is a bad deal). :)

  • where do you register?

  • The page you are looking for is temporarily unavailable.
    Please try again later.

    looks like Slashdot effect…

  • Why bother? Just use Parted Magic for all your hd partition/resize/clone jobs.
    http://partedmagic.com/

And it's free - no nag, no rego.

    • I'm not saying that Parted Magic is inferior, but I would personally trust a commercial product to fix up my partitians.

      • I wouldn't, just because some one is selling it doesn't mean its to be trusted.

BTW, Parted Magic is a open source program and actually uses gparted, the partition manager for gnome.

In this case, I would go with Parted Magic rather than this deal.

        • I second this. I think the entire Linux community would back gparted as the best partition manager around. Never had a problem with it. Best part is, if I get gparted today, I don't have to worry about paying 39.95 for a new version when it releases in a couple of months.

It's a good deal. But no reason to pay for this software is all I'm saying. Unless if you're someone that buys into the misconception that the more you pay for something, the better it is.

          • @ragflan: I'm not saying that the more you pay is better. But I've always felt that software companies (that charge) have a greater responsibility to make their products work or they're not going to get any business.

On the other hand, free software would be like a "take it or leave it" approach where you'd be using it at your own risk. Parted Magic may in fact be a great product but unless you know for certain then it would seem like a risker product to take over Partition manager.

            • @TCM: Dude, not all free software is produced by dudes that work out of a basement or something. One of the most comprehensive firewalls on Windows systems is made by Comodo. Their products are all free for home users. I get your point about responsibility but some freeware alternatives trump paid software. Or at least you get a level of functionality that nearly mirrors the overpriced paid alternative. Consider OpenOffice as well. Granted you probably don't get as nice an interface as Office 2007 or 2010, but you get the same functionality. Office 2007 costs like 400 bucks.

I get your argument but in the case of partition managers, free alternatives do a great job. There's no reason to pay for partition managers unless, like I said, that you buy into the myth that paid software always performs better.

    • What about the illegality of it? This is OzBargain, not OzTheft.

        don't feed the trolls!

    • The stupidity of some people. I will never understand why many are quite happy to spend hundreds of $ on hardware but when it comes to spending $150 on an OS they pucker up.

    • There's no pride in using pirated software. Hopefully when you're older you'll realise this.

  • Anyone else getting the cabinet file corruption error?

    • My downloads (using JDownloader) stopped @ 99.52% for x64 version while x86 came down OK. Forced resume and x64 came down OK too.

EDIT: Actually x64 is buggered, it just looked like it completed OK. Going to download again, I can make PAR files for you if you wish.

EDIT2: PAR2 files here , repair with QuickPar

      • im having the same issue with the 64 bit download. it stops at 99% using get right. did you manage to get a working copy downloaded? if so how do i use the PAR prg to join the missing 1%?

        • Very easy. Download QuickPar (freeware) from the link I provided. Extract the PAR files from the first link (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?kmog0z3iezm) to a folder which also has the downloaded file PM95_Pers_ea_x64.msi . So you want all PAR files in the same directory as PM95_Pers_ea_x64.msi . After installing QuickPar, run PM95_Pers_ea_x64.msi.par2 and it will automatically fix the file for you. Let me know if you have problems.

does not work with server 2003 - still a good deal though

    • Thanks

  • great freebie!
successufully registered and got the key.
just resized my extended partition which is greatXD

  • Just because it's free shareware, doesn't mean it's better than the competition.

    http://majorgeeks.com/Partition_Logic_d4780.html

Partition Logic. It's freeware, less bloated, and offers more features.

  • just downloaded and registered- thanks!

  • still seems to work even though marked expired.
