32" HD LCD TV (REFURBISHED) $159.00 Was $239.00

Are your 'was' prices for refurbs or for new ???

  • +1

    Some very average prices there.

Btw Soniq, no one's going to buy that rubbish tablet. Stop trying to convince people it was "$249" every second week when you have a "sale". That thing shouldn't be priced over $40.

    Hi JV,

The was prices are based on brand new RRP.

    Kind regards,
    SONIQ Team

    • +4

The was prices are based on brand new RRP.

Welcome to illegal advertising. Want us to consult the ACCC for you? You can't show a was price when it's not even the same condition.

Next minute Good Sammies stores could list what RRP is on their secondhand stuff as a reflection of discount

Can someone comment on the quality of this brand?

    • El Cheapo, Re-branded Low Quality Chinese Goods. Just go to any market in China and then wipe off the brand and there you go.

I think it varies on what company they are rebranding

  • Rubbish quality tv - plenty of personal experience
Check whether they're Full HD too….

I am negging the deal. It is both illegal and immoral to advertise refurbished goods against full RRP.

I have had good and bad Soniq equipment. But this doesn't cut it! Not a deal!

    • -1

No, no it's not illegal or immoral.

      • technically its illegal haha see ACCC

        • -1

I like how you just said "see ACCC" rather than finding a source.

I also like the rest of your grammar as it lets me know who I am dealing with.

They are within 100% of the right to advertise refurbished products and compare the savings to the RRP as long as they advertise that the products are refurbished, which they are.

          https://www.accc.gov.au/business/pricing/displaying-prices#t…

While it's not specifically mentioned in there, it would be very easy to make a case against price comparisons against a new product, when they product being sold isn't in that same condition.

May as well be comparing the selling price of apples against apple juice. Not the same price.

They are within 100% of the right to advertise refurbished products and compare the savings to the RRP

Factory 2nd/Refurb/Secondhand products shouldn't be compared to the RRP of a new price.
Not to mention what the article states against RRP comparisons:

Depending on individual circumstances, businesses using statements such as 'savings' or 'discounts' when comparing a sale price to the recommended retail price (RRP) may be misrepresenting potential savings if the product has never been sold at the RRP or the RRP does not reflect a current market price.

So while it appears you just want to match wits to prove your point, it's pretty clear cut on how the ACCC would view the OP's price comparisons, unless you think SONIQ are stupid enough to sell Refurbished products for RRP?

        • @Spackbace:

Oh and funnily enough their last sale just finished yesterday, the day before this sale. That sale featured all their current Refurb stock as well, with the same 'was' prices… So now it's definitely against the ACCC was stating a 'Was' price, when in fact it 'was' just on sale!

Here SONIQ, have a neg for deceptive pricing.

          @Spackbace:

Firstly there is no mention in the article of refurbished goods.

Also the RRP of $239 not only is a reflection of the current market value of a 32" TV, but is less than the RRP of what JB HiFi sells a Soniq HD LED 32". To an objective person this would present that a listing of savings would be fair.

It appears you also entered with just as much anecdotal tidbits as me. So I'll ask again for a source that it's illegal to sell refurbished goods by comparing the savings to new - but implicitly advertising that the product is refurbished.

Also who the hell even cares about RRP on this site? They have advertised Refurbished 32" LCD HD LED TVs for $150, found a cheaper price?

Your link for the previous Soniq sales are for a complete different set of items!!!! Your neg for deceptive pricing when they are all different products is just a joke.

  • 42" FHD LED TV (REFURBISHED) Model: T2E42V14A $259.00 Was $499.00

42" FHD LED TV (REFURBISHED) Model: <slightly different, similar/same specs & same size> Was $159.00

    Fixed that for you, Soniq.
