Exactly right. Manna pop up here once a month doing a sale for $60 for 2kg which is a much better bang for buck value deal. There are also a few small independent roasters around that cost $25-$35/kg.
depends how your coffee sensibilities are and your hip pocket is feeling.
Some supermarket beans also include a roast date these days.
Don't worry about the coffee snobs. Its just like Monster-cable - doesn't pass a double-blind test.
Coffee does not go "stale" in the same way as bread, so the term is misleading.
Once opened, pre-ground has a limited shelf-life though.it certainly is not as good as freshly roasted
and you have no idea what orign or blend they are
So its not about being a snob, but about educating yourself before you blindly make ignorant comments
Totally agree. Coffee is like wine, coffee snobs think they are above everyone else.
Wine drinkers are regularly deceived by the "price" and have no idea when given no labelled glasses.
I find more important is getting the grind right for your method of brewing. Thats key
why bother? Aldi brand Lazio coffee is better than lavazza
Merlo coffee, fresh roasted. Best coffee around - and yes, there is a difference.
Taking all into consderation I still think Lavazza is still one of my favourite coffee's to drink. Call me a creature of habit but I know most of us Italians seldom steer clear of the brand. My aunty was partying like it was 1999 when I told her of this deal!
Good price, but personally wouldn't purchase these beans (or any other) from a supermarket due to staleness
Much better to get beans from some of the roasters posted on here from time to time (Manna, etc)
