$75? I'm sure you could find a cheaper 'tour' while there. Or in fact, hire a moto taxi for $5-10 and walk around Saigon markets yourself.

    • I think this is an 'insiders' tour. My friend went on something like this and loved it.

      • +2

        No shortage of 'insiders'

        • +1

recently came back from 4 weeks there, these trip advisor reviews are NOT insiders but other travelers and was not impressed at all so gave up on it. After a few days of rubbish food based on reviews I started asking people at the market or expats I ran into. I didn't go on a scooter tour but my friend did and he told me where he went for seafood etc and it was hard to find but great. Each to their own

        • @piggyfund:

Yeah I was there for a month and its waay better just to ask the locals and or maybe some of the backpackers at the hostels, the pre packaged tours are usually rubbish and they just take you to the restaurants that will give them the most money for it rather than the actual quality places.

      • I'm sure if you have never been to South East Asia of course you would love it. I loved my first moto taxi in Asia and it was $1

standard price for this sort of thing…
    example: https://www.getyourguide.com/ho-chi-minh-city-l272/ho-chi-mi…
plus there's lots more with similar offerings

sorry, but this is nothing more than advertising. No bargain here

try US30 and then I'll upvote it as a bargain

    • No one smart actually pays that price though

Food hygienic/poisoning is still a big problem in Vietnam, be safe to take an extra box of Imodium.

    • Incorrect, the food there is fresher than what you get in Australia as it's almost all farm->table in under 24hrs. What gets you sick is exposure to bacteria from the environment. How to avoid getting sick? Take probiotics - by topping up the "good" bacteria in your intestinal tract it allows your body to defeat the unknown/"bad" bacteria that your body wants to expel (hence symptoms of vomiting/diarrhoea etc).

You don't have to be neurotic about it and use hand sanitiser after touching every surface (though for smokers I recommend doing so before lighting up each time).

You couldnt pay me to ride a scooter in vietnam

we did a scooter tour by XO tours. one of the best experiences we had in Vietnam, would recommend

  • +5

go with XO tours (google it!) number 1 tour to do in Vietnam, vietnamese girls on motorbikes come pick you up and they take you all around…. read the reviews, highly recommended best thing I did in Vietnam and they have security guards on motorbikes that ride around you for when they take you to eat in some real shady districts

Wish I could up vote this more! XO tours was the first tour I ever did, the evening I arrived in Vietnam for the first time ever. Wonderful girls who drive you around, the hosts were so friendly and fun, and the food is really great. Definitely recommended!

    • We'll be giving this a go in May when in HCM. Cannot wait!

    • I can also recommend XO Tours - did a city tour with them, which was fantastic. Barely saw other tourists as we went "off piste" for a lot of the tour.

      • My kind of trip.
        What cost?

        • This was back in 2012, prices may have inflated since then, but I recall it was USD$40 pp.

  • Jesus! $75!?
