Good Long Micro USB Cable

They can make phones that are waterproof, land on the moon, however why it is difficult to find a decent long micro usb cable for my phone?

I would like a 1.5m or 2m cable that can charge at 2amps (24 gauge cable I believe) and will work properly after a few months.

Please don't mention Tikbro, great cable when it works, but the plug becomes loose after a while and the only way the cable works is to bend it behind the phone.

I find the cable you get free with the Xiaomi powerpack excellent, but can't find a long one.

  • The Tronsmart one I have is pretty decent.. however none of my microusb cables have lasted very long. I think it is probably a flaw in the design. I have tonnes of mini usb cable that never dies but I have don't seem to have much luck with microusb cables. The only one that lasted the longest is my really old Nokia microusb cable.

It's true what they say, they don't make things like they used to.

    • I think it is probably a flaw in the design

Correct. There was a bad batch of cables. They've been replaced by the gold connectors and I've not had any complaints so far.

      • I think geek001 is saying that all micro usb cables are poorly designed.

geek001 - well Nokia did make the 3310. They should design a cable equal to the 3310 and all their money problems would disappear.

The tronsmart cables look decent, does anyone know where I can get some genuine ones? I'm assuming that any decent branded cable would be counterfeited.

Anyone used BlitzWolf cables before? http://www.banggood.com/BlitzWolf-2_1A-Reversible-Micro-USB-…

I have two of the reversible blitzwolf ones. They feel like they're good quality. Time will tell though. Haven't had a hard look at the charging times though.

        • @salem:

          Thanks for the feedback.

          @salem:

          Ordered one!

      • I don't think it was just a batch. It has been like that since I had phones with a microusb slot.

Thanks for the tip. I will give microusb cables with gold connectors a try.

        • Have a look at the original cable that came with the phone. Some phones have slightly longer or shorter micro USB ends.

I tried the long USB cables, but eventually settled for a normal length cable with long enough extension cord.

    • I use a USB cable extender for my wife's iphone cable, but it's heavier and more cumbersome.

I'm going to try another longer Micro USB cable- i.e. blitzwolf, if it fails, then I'll admit defeat and get a USB cable extender.

Anker PowerLine micro USB cable in 1.8m length and has 20 AWG power wires, it should fit the bill.

        • Ordered one!

        • @JB1: Lets us know how these cables compare to each other. ^_^

          will do…

don't expect a review for a least a month based on past shipping experience from bang good.

        • @O O:

          See my review below.

  • Just an update,

I purchased both the Anker and biltzwolf.

I've been using the biltzwolf for a few weeks now. Very positive review. Seems like a well designed cable with a nice 'click' when I plug in my samsung S7. Best feature is that the plug is reversible like the Apple lightning cable.

I have also used the Anker one, seems well built, but the cable (or plastic insulation) seems much thicker than need be, which also reduces flexibility. The plug itself doesnt click when I insert it into my phone. However it requires quite a bit of force to insert and unplug to the point that Im worried that it will damage my phone!

So, IMO the winner by a clear margin is the Biltzwolf.

Bonus is I think it's cheaper too.

  • These 3M generic fabric braided cables give a good charge for the price, however I think the retainer on the micro USB plug fails after a few months like the Tronsmart cables. Surprisingly they deliver near 12 watts with QC, but for non-QC given the 3M length they have pretty poor charge performance (around 6w):

The Anker PowerLine ones feel nice however the 2M ones I purchased have issues with the USB Type A end not secured very well to the Tronsmart 5 port chargers (the one with 1xQC). They are fine on the 5 port QC charger. I also picked up some 1M ones but haven't tried to see how they secure in the Tronsmart chargers.

The Tronsmart gave slightly better charge performance than the Ankler with non-QC, despite Ankler advertised with thicker AWG - but with QC the there was no difference.

I've made some other comments here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/239558

Next purchase will be a BlitzWolf. They seems to be the go, and reversible!

  • Are there any 3m cables with micro usb 2.0 end (ideally reversible like blitzwolf ones)

The blitzwolf ones are only 2m. The 3m one they have is type c

    • Bump I also need this. Preferably 3m or higher/longer. Micro USB to USB plug into a USB wall charger for an nvidia shield tab.
