Hi guys ,
Has anyone used any no name smart watches coming from Chinese suppliers ? I was reading on XDA dev forums there are a lot in the market these like D5 , N10 , K8 etc ?
Any feedback/reviews on theses spec features , battery life.
Ideally I am looking for smart watch in sporty look that has fitness tracking features with decent battery life in it if possible under $200.
I personally wouldn't bother with all the cheap chinese watches with no brand-name. Apart from build quality issues, there's the software side of things which can either make or break the experience. You have zero tech support, and asking for help on the internet is mostly fruitless when nobody else has the device.
My first vote goes to the Pebble Time which is available still via Dick Smith, but it's probably better to just buy it from Pebble website. It has a 7 to 10 day battery life, an ecosystem of it's own, and Pebble Health. Plus, you can actually go swimming with it.
Second vote: the Xiaomi Mi-band is probably one of the best value 'smart-watch' you can get. You only charge it perhaps, once or twice a month.
I know it technically isn't a smartwatch since it doesn't really run any apps, nor can it tell time, so its more accurate to describe it as an activity tracker. But just $20~30 dollars with heart-rate sensor, it's a cheap disposable device which won't break your bank (or heart, if you manage to lose it)
The Elephone W2 is also a decent one, at just around $100 AUD. It's a nice looking simple analogue watch that has only a few smart features — mostly LED indicators and vibration when a call comes in (which incidentally, is not very powerful but is noticeable enough). It doesn't need recharging, but you do need to swap the battery out when it runs dry.
Battery life is 3 months per battery — and battery replacements are very cheap.
However the Elephone app is still fairly bare-bones, while it does a decent job of fitness tracking there's almost no customisation for notifications.
[NOTE: I own all the three products mentioned above]
