  • Awesome. Good dealio.

    I love my audiobooks.
I try to listen to one or two per week depending on how long they are.
    Thanks op.

    • Might be worth noting that this is for new users only then. If you're going to sign up for a new account you might as well use a 2 books free link.

      • has anyone tried using it against an existing account?
previously a lot of the offers still worked.

        • +1

I tried the $0 2 month subscription, it appeared to apply successfully. I did not complete transaction as I decided I wanted 4 months, so just waiting on my 4 month code to come through.

Edit: This was on an account that I had already gotten a couple of free books back on an offer I did in December 2015

        • @kearnsy:
cheers thanks let us know how it goes!

        • I have an account I've never used - I think I logged into Audible once in 2011 but never did anything with it. So I thought I'd try. I got an error when trying to redeem.

I emailed support and they actually called me just now and they're escalating the issue. I'll see how it goes.

        • @kearnsy:

End up getting the code? It's a great deal either way, but would love to know if I can apply to my current account.

        • I attempted to apply the free 2 month voucher to my existing account and got this error:

Key: promocodes.service.error.603 ErrorMessage: Sorry, it looks like you are not eligible for this offer. If you are looking to start a membership, you can view our membership plans here.

        • @Scaregdearimasu:
Also wouldn't apply. Time to make many accounts I guess.

      • What is the link for 2 free books?

        • I'd also like to know

try this one. there's almost always one active, just google 'audible 2 free books' or something and you should be on the right track. Requires a new account as per usual though

  • So do you get to keep the books or you can listen to them only while your subscription is current?

    • +2

You keep them. Even if you don't have a current subscription.

  • Will try 4 month

  • How is the au library vs us library? (have existing us library).

  • Hmm, might try this out. Never used this before.
Do you just download an audio file to your computer/device? Or do you have to use a certain app to play a book?

    • You can either use the Android/iOS app, stream in browser or sync with iTunes. The files are DRM protected though so you can't play then on just any MP3 player as far as I know.

      • +1

There are also apps for Windows desktop, Windows store, Windows Phone/Mobile, Sonos and more. http://audible.custhelp.com/ for all the options.

      • Ah okay thanks. Do you keep the audiobooks forever? Or just only during the subscription period?

        • +1

You keep them after cancelling the subscription. Although technically it's a non transferable license, so if Audible disappears you might lose them. You also can't pass them on to your kids etc.

    • +1

its like steam. You buy a book and then you can access it from any device forever. They have an app for windows, mac, iOS/android, blackberry, etc.

  • +1

Thanks OP, went for the 4 month option which is a great deal @ $4.

  • +1

    Don't forget to cancel

If you want to go the full period or just forget Amazon will refund your money in full - easiest way to do it is go to online chat help.

You will probably lose a few bucks due to international transfer and exchange fees (unless you get that for free already).

  • +1

Does anyone know if it is possible to gift the book to audible.com account?

  • For some reason the groupon for 4 months free trial doesn't work for me, I've emailed Audible and hopefully it pulls through.

    • Didn't work for me either. Coupon disappeared from my basket during checkout and won't come back.

      • I'm getting the same issue.

        • I've just emailed [email protected] about this problem. Hopefully they can sort it out quickly.

        • +1

I gave up last night and when I tried again just now it worked. So hopefully yours will be fixed/fix itself soon.

        • @littleannie: can confirm, same situation, didnt work last night, works this morning

        • @littleannie:

Thanks for the info. Their customer service said they're working on it and will let me know.

        • +1

They said the problem was a conflict with the free trial promotion when I signed up for the account yesterday. It seems I should have created the account as part of going to www.audible.com.au/groupon instead of creating it with the standard free trial and then trying to apply the voucher. To resolve this they gave me 3 credits, which when added to the 1 from the normal trial means I have 4 to use now instead of having to do it over a few months.

      • Just tried the coupon code again on Audible and it works! Yay

  • Damn, I want this deal, I subscribed in 2011 and has a few audio books in my account already. Cancelled it because I didn't have time to finish on top of my podcasts. Now I don't want to have two different Audible accounts.

  • No Longer Available

  • +1

Just created new account to use this deal. Thanks OP.

    Great deal, thanks a lot!

    US vs. AUS account:

I have an existing account on Audible.com (US), I went to Audible.com.au, used the same login and was able to use the Groupon code for 4 months (plus 1 month is there for free for any new account by default). Now I will my subscription on the US account on hold.

    • Hey there thanks for the info. So if you login into the app on your phone, can you access both your books from your US account as well as the AU account?

I have a audible.com (US) account as well but it has been cancelled.
I was wondering if I can use the Groupon code on my existing login so I can access all of existing my audio books as well.

      • Before you log in on mobile phone, you have to select a marketplace - either US or AUS.
Another option might be creating a completely separate AUS account, using the voucher code and then sending a book as a gift to your US account.

        • Hey thanks for your help.

Just tried to redeem the gift code on my US marketplace account, totally didn't work. Perhaps the codes are only redeemable on the AU marketplace?

        • @concento:

Yes, the voucher is valid on AUS account only (see my post above "I went to Audible.com.au, used the same login and was able to use the Groupon code for 4 months").

        • @searedtuna:

Does your US account purchased books show up on the AUS account too???

        • +1

          @vip69:
No, I have to sign out, switch marketplace to US and sign in with my US account to access books I have purchased with the US account.

    • Should I use 1 month free trial then add my 4 month code or enter 4 month code then do 1 month free trial please help me thanks

      • Hi,
If I remember correctly, it does not matter. I automatically had 1 month free membership in my cart, I entered the Groupon code and then it said 1 month free + 4 months free (Groupon voucher) so I got 5 months in total.

  • Hey guys & gals,

I've never used audible before, but I really enjoyed Dan Carlin's (free on podcast) WW1 series, and I'd like to sign up, but I'm not sure how audible works? If I sign up for 4 months @ $4 do I only get the four free books over that time (1 free book p/m as specified above in OP), for my $4 subscription, or can I view/download as many titles as I please during that four months?

Apologies if this is somewhat of an obvious question.

    Any useful guidance much appreciated!

    Ta :)

    • I'm new to audible too, so someone else may be able to answer your question better. But as I understand it, when you activate your membership, you get given a token for 1 book. Then after 1 month another token and so on for the 4 months. You cannot access any other books in that time (without paying extra). It does mention that you can exchange it for free if you do not like the book you downloaded, presumably with conditions attached.

      • Thanks for the reply Freddo_Melb! :)

I have no idea whether that's a good deal or not, but based on the above comments I'd have to say that I'd be led to believe that it must be so.

Presumably, if one pays the standard price of $14.95 p/m they are then allocated more than 15 books per month? Does that seem reasonable? I don't know, but one would assume that this introductory price is just a reduced cost version of the regular costs?

        • The regular price of $14.95 p/m is for one book a month, not 15 books (who would have the time)! You can pay a bit more and get two or three books a month. In the past i've borrowed off friends, or downloaded for free from my local library. But the range available at Audible is far superior to what my library offers.

        • @Freddo_Melb:

Yes indeed! 15 books is a lot, but I'd give it a go! lol!

I'm not knocking the deal, though interesting to think that you can get four months of audible for $4 whereas it would normally be $60, seemed to good to be true or that I thought maybe $14.95 would get you more, but at any rate obviously it's a good deal!

          Thanks for your help :)

    • Hi Jawanzar, Ok so heres how audible works.
You signup for a plan (Audible Australia only has one plan at the moment) In this case it's 14.95 a month for one credit per month.
You can exchange this credit for 1 audio book which will be yours forever even if you discontinue your plan/cancel. Very very rarely there are some books that require two credits but chances are you won't see any as there are so few.
So back to the plan normal plan 14.95 a month for 1 credit which equals one book. So one book a month and the next month your charged another 14.95 for another credit.
This promo lets you have 4 months for free since you paid groupon instead. You'll get one book a month then on the 5th month they'll charge you. Make sure to use your credits before you cancel or they'll disappear too.

Thanks for the info Scaregdearimasu :)

In that case the Groupon deal is awesome value!

  • Got my 4 month to apply this morning, I cant seem to find in my account profile when I will be charged for the subscription so I can put a reminder in Outlook to cancel. Any idea?

  • If the 3-4 month offer isn't available you can try www.audible.com.au/twofree to get your 2 free audiobooks. Link expires 31/03/16

I love Audible! As mentioned above the books are DRMd. It is possible to remove the DRM I was using Goldwave to achieve that however it was a little time consuming but then I found this new free little program called AAX to MP3 and it works in a flash and very well indeed. Only downside to AAXtoMP3 is that it's interface is in German but there's only 2 buttons so it's easy to work out load the Audible AAX file in and click convert voilà done.

  • Any suggestions on a good book to spend my free credit on?

Thanks OP just joined up with the 4 months plan and I have already had an Audible account with the same email address and credit card on the US Audible. It worked fine joining the Australian Audible.

  • No longer available :-(

  • I can't figure out how to put the audiobook on my iPod. :( it's an old iPod and the site is telling me I can only put on ones that have the app. Ahh help! :(

    • 1) Go to the Audible website and into your library on the right above the list of books is the format option make sure its set to enhanced and then download the file.
      2) Find the file on your hardrive
      3) Download a little program called AAX to MP3 https://sourceforge.net/projects/aaxtomp3/
      4) Run the program you will notice that it's not in english but that's ok there's only two buttons Hit the one on the left to load the book from the location in step 2
      5) Click the other button to start

This will output the book in MP3 format which you can load onto your Ipod just like any other song, it is better if in Itunes you mark it as an audiobook and tell it to remember where you last played too, this is done in itunes.

It would be easier of course just to download the Audible App onto your phone and listen with that.

btw you have the private message function turned off in your user account

  • Well i've received my 4 credits, and enjoyed them! Don't think i can justify the on-going cost of $15.95 a month though, so i'm planning to cancel before mid-next month (when i'll get charged)

    • Hi, I just got around to redeeming my Groupon that I bought with this deal. When you created your Audible account, did it reflect that you had three upcoming free months in your account status? Mine just says "Audible Listener Basic" @ $14.95 a month.

      • That's what mine is listed as now, and i'm pretty sure that's how it looked through the duration of the free period. I don't recall any listing of my free upcoming months.

        • Ah cool, thanks! I'll hope for the best, haha.
