Their men's Citizen eco-drives are not on their main page - try here http://www.starbuy.com.au/watches/citizen-mens-solar-power-e…

    • From the home page scroll down to the bottom, or else use this link.

      • +1

Yeah, thanks. Just spoke to Starbuys. I suggested that men's Citizen eco watches should be next to womens Citizen eco watches tab on the home page screen, instead of being down the bottom by itself. Could have it in both places, but no-one is going to continue scrolling down all the way in the hope of finding men's eco watches. Great prices and I am very happy with my purchase from a year ago.

    • Isn't this a men's watch? It says so in the webpage title and the product description…

  • I just found the Citizen Eco Drive AW1360-04E for $125.79 delivered without box or $129.76 with the box.
Maybe the rep could beat this price for us?

    • Its 129$ from Startbuy.

    • 1 year warranty from an international seller (ebay) vs 5 yr Australian warranty from an Australian seller (Starbuy) for a couple of bucks more…

I know which one I would go with.

      • Yes I would definitely buy from Starbuy also, that is why I asked if they could beat that price. Doesn't hurt to ask.

i just want a free watch. that earns me money during downtimes

  • +1

The Stilettos are quite nice - an Eco-Drive in a 4mm thin and 36mm diameter case.

Also good to see the AW1360/AW1365 variants back at a great price.

    • 45mm for the 1360?? - Woah! That needs a chain and a fob to put it in….
      [Still, niiiiice.]

      • +1

It is a larger watch. I've got an 8" wrist and it's comfortable, however the 12.3mm thickness can be annoying with sleeves.

        Compared to a 33 x 5.8mm watch: http://i.imgur.com/4RcJTDS.jpg

        • +2

Yup - 40 mm is diameter the un-writable section in the middle of a DVD for those who aren't used to metric.

Bought a watch from them couple of months back. Regret to say that they do not use insured post method. The watch never arrived after 6 weeks, during which I have to call them up a few time as Auspost only allows Sender to lodge complains and parcel tracing. After all the hoo hah, auspost claimed the parcel is lost in transit. Call them up after that to request a refund, but they refused as they claimed to have mailed out the parcel, and they can't claim from Auspost as the parcel wasn't sent insured. It was annoying, as the watch wasn't cheap even after discount, and they didn't offer mail insurance options during checkout. I was left watchless and a few hundred bucks less in my bank. Have to go through the Paypal dispute process to get my refund back after another month of investigation.

Not a very good customer service in my opinion.

Pretty poor on the part of Starbuy/Australia Post. Probably some grimey AusPost worker has their hands on your watch.

      • Or your watch on their hands…

    • +3

was tempted to buy a watch but don't know now

      • +2

This is the 1st negative review I have seen from an Ozbargain member, just look back at past Starbuy deals and you will see that they have sold hundreds of watches with no complaints.
Also note that ausdday eventually got their money back because they used Paypal.

        • +1

It's not the only one I'm afraid. I had a negative experience with Starbuy as well, though I would agree they seem to generally have a good reputation.

My girlfriend ordered me a watch as a Christmas present. Was never delivered even up until Mid January, never ended up arriving. They were slow to reply to emails, and in the end we had to resort to a Paypal dispute to get our money back.

        • @RyanMK: Hi there. Could we please have your order number so we can have a look at this? Thanks

        • @Star Jewels:

          Hi Star Jewels,
Appreciate the response. This was for Christmas 2014, so it is a while ago. And since we have already got our money back, I don't intend on pursuing it further. However, if you would still like the order number to do your own internal investigations, feel free to PM me and I'll look it up for you.

If your in Sydney, do a pickup option. It isn't hard and near wynyard station.

I prefer click and collect when I can

      • I would say it's a bit harsh to put them blame on them entirely.

I've always had great service but then again, because I work nearby, I always opt to pick it up from their office. Service was always great.

Whilst I agree that it would be better to offer insurance because let's be honest here, some of these watches aren't exactly cheap, you'll have to remember Australian Post isn't known for their service or hospitality. The staff there always have a bad attitude towards me and 8 out of 10 speak in an inaudible accent.

My work stopped using them after so many screw ups and now use TOLL.

Whilst I don't deny your experience with StarBuy, I've got to say that I had a very positive experience with them!

After a week and a half of my shipment showing as "In Transit" on AusPost's tracking site, I emailed StarBuy to check the expected delivery time to Brisbane.

Literally three minutes later, I received a reply from Deepak, who said he would check the status of the delivery with AusPost.

Two hours after that, Deepak confirmed that the parcel was probably lost in transit and he would send a second watch of the same type to me straight away. He sent through the new tracking details two hours later.

Deepak also asked that, if the original watch did arrive, to refuse to accept it, so that it would be returned to StarBuy.

The newly-dispatched watch arrived two days later and my partner, who I bought it for, has been very happy with it since (and I was very happy with the price I got it for).

Whilst I believe the delivery of the product is largely out of StarBuy's hands once it has left their possession, I really did appreciate the manner in which they resolved the issue.

For the record, the original watch never showed up.

I do wonder if AusPost regularly loses items addressed from jewellers, etc…

      • +3

I've also had nothing but positive experiences with StarBuy/Star Jewels. Ten or so eParcels, all with tracking, and all delivered.

I do wonder if AusPost regularly loses items addressed from jewellers, etc…

AusPost parcel theft news stories seem to be quite regular. There were a lot of complaints made regarding missing parcels and letters over Christmas. A quick Google shows some recent examples:

        14 Jan 2016:
A 21-year-old postal worker charged with stealing mail in Broken Hill told police he sold the goods on social media.

        23 Dec 2015:
A 19-year-old Broken Hill man has pleaded guilty to stealing parcels while working as an Australia Post contractor.

        23 Dec 2015:
Kempsey Police and Australia Post are currently investigating the theft of parcels which were for delivery by Australia Post to residents of Kempsey and the surrounding suburbs.

A parcel with the sender of "Star Jewels" is probably going to be pretty tempting.

Bought 6 watches from them between July 2015 to December 2015. One was sent to Cambodia. All received with no problem. Great prices on watches and awesome customer service.

buy with credit card and claim it back from the bank

    • If that happens just call your credit card company and get a chargeback. Should be fairly straightforward.

If you can do this one for $99 I will buy http://www.starbuy.com.au/citizen-mens-eco-drive-black-bm847…

Got shafted around Christmas time when they sent out a watch and it never arrived. They said too bad as they sent it even though they couldn't provide any information on the whereabouts of my parcel.
    Go to someone else.

    • +1

Hi. Could you please give us your order number so we can check the order. Thanks

    • +1

Hi again. Would be great to get your order number so we can look at this for you. Just need to see who dealt with this and said "too bad". Thanks

  • +2

also be aware that the "rechargable battery" lasts about 8-10 years and when it needs replacing it is more than the costs of a new watch… was my experience anyway YMMV

    • +2

I have 3 solar rechargeable watches in my collection, my first Citizen solar titanium watch purchased in 2001 is still going strong, never had to replace the battery, yet. :)

Once again, as TimOfAshgrove pointed out, every watch is different, YMMV.

  • Pity is a man's watch. My wife loves the two-tone effect. Wonder if they have a womans version?

Thank you very much for posting the offer @28degrees. Really appreciate your support. With regards to the PayPal claims issues from @ausdday, we have to follow the refund procedure as per PayPal. Essentially, as long as we ship to the specified address, the buyer is covered as is the seller. The drawback is that Australia Post has to confirm in writing that the parcel is lost. That time is dictated by Australia Post and is never to our satisfaction. With our margins, we have to ensure that the procedure is followed to the letter so we get paid for the item as well. It takes far too long for our liking as well and no one here like to get any calls from disgruntled customers so we try to sort out the problems as soon as we possibly can. Nothing beats receiving an order, shipping it and customer getting the item. With all due respect to Australia Post, there is no other alternative within Australia. As a percentage of items shipped, we lose less than 0.01% BUT that 0.01% still represents a customer purchase that they have paid for and expect. Re the too bad from @jayz, could you please provide an order number so we can see what the issue was?

    Thanks

    • Hi rep what's your best deal on this one http://www.starbuy.com.au/citizen-mens-eco-drive-black-bm847… can you do $99 like in past deals

      • +3

Hello. There have been 2 price increases from Citizen, the last of which was on the 1st of March. Our cost now is much higher than $99 unfortunately. All the BM8475 series now have a RRP of $325. The $129 is the last time we will be able to offer these at as even those prices have gone up. We just bought a big load of stock of the BM8475 series to get these in at $129.

        Thanks

    • No disrespect Star Jewels, but I do like your statistic. 0.01% lost package of all the items you shipped. That's 1 in 10000 units. Jay, LambChop and I must be the very very unlucky 3 out of 30,000 shipments. :)
      Just kidding :P

      • +4

None taken and for the amount of parcels of ours that they handle, hats off to them for the numbers they deliver. Shame it has to be anyone really, whose parcel is lost. Cheers

        • I used to work in Sales with a courier company (will not mention but it's not Post. This was nearly a decade ago

Their acceptable rate back then for thr operations kpis was around 97%. 3% - that's alot of parcels going missing/damaged/delayed.

        • +1

@harkoliar: 3% !! Wow. Everyone loves to hate AP but within Australia their service is brilliant. Overseas where they use other sub-contractors (Parcel force & Chromepost especially), the service is sub par. Nudge Nudge, Wink Wink….Say no more…I hope you were not referring to DHL. We are looking as using DHL for overseas shipments.

"Eco-Drive SATELLITE WAVE air realsises the fastest signal reception speed. "

Not sure if that's a typo. But yeah.

  • Hi Op

Previously you did mentioned try to make some deal for smaller wrist buyer

    any 36mm special?

  • Mens? I thought this looked like a ladies watch.

    • Hello. Not on this one I'm afraid. This is the lowest possible price. Thanks

  • +1

Hi rep. Any deals on ladies watches? Looks like there's only a men's flash sale

    • Hello. Nothing was on offer with the last list but we will definitely keep an eye out and post if we find any offers that will be good enough. Thanks

  • Tried to "Checkout with Paypal" but after completing the paypal screens, it just goes back to a Star Jewels page with a Place Order button which doesn't do anything. So I have either placed 0 or 2 orders, hopefully 0. Don't think I will risk a 3rd! Pity, it looked like a nice watch at a good price.

    • Hi. Both are already at the lowest prices possible. Thanks

  • Hello Rep, Is there a Seiko sale coming any time this year?
I'm looking to buy an SRP637
    http://www.skywatches.com.sg/reviews/seiko-prospex-shrouded-…

    • +1

We are expecting some Seiko and possibly Orient to come into stock….however not till June at this stage. Thanks

      • Thanks for the reply, that is the period of time I'm looking to purchase as well. Looking forward to it!

  • Approached the rep a few days back in hope of a sale on a few of these and they've pulled through kudos. Hard to beat their regular prices (let alone sale) when you compare to other Australian retailers.

  • Hi Store Rep. I've been patiently waiting for an Australian deal on a Citizen EcoDrive with perpetual calendar and metal bracelet. There are plenty through international sellers around the $300 mark but Citizen Australia maintain that, as they are 'international models', they only have 1 year warranty. Can you put up something good to compete? Thanks for being part of OzBargain.

    • Hello. Thats a tough one. The last time we had a P/C on special at around that price was in Oct last year. Please leave this with me and I will see if we can come up with something. If in small quantities, we will PM you with the details. Thank you.

    • I got one. Loving it recognising leap year and dates. Never have to change anything until battery dies. :-)
