20% off Formula 1 Cars & Tracks @ Modelcarsales

Hi OzBargain!

It's been a while since we last saw each other, so I thought I'd drop by with a great promo we're doing for the Grand Prix this week.

We signed a supplier who specialises in high-quality F1 diecasts, and have a wide range of cars available at 20% off RRP for this week only. These cars are something to behold - with designs accurate down to the individual race!

Some of my favourites are Kimi Raikkonen's Lotus from his 2013 Australian GP win which is down from $210 to $168 (notice how the tyres have the white markings of a medium tyre, the ones he ended on in the 2013 Australian GP - that's the level of detail here).
We have local boy Daniel Ricciardo's Red Bull from his debut win at the Canadian GP in 2014 down from $240 to $192, as well as Lewis Hamilton's World Championship-winning Mercedes from the 2014 Abu Dhabi GP, down from $250 to $200.
Not to mention the best livery in modern F1, the Williams Martini of Felipe Massa from the 2014 Malaysia GP, down from $255 to $204.

For fans of the classics, you can find the classic red-and-white McLaren Honda of Alain Prost for just $72 - down from $90, the 1980 Williams of Alan Jones for $200 - down from $250, or Jackie Stewart's 1969 Matra for $192 - down from $240.

The deals don't end there, as we've extended the offer to all of our existing F1 cars and tracks. This 2014 Ferrari and Mercedes Carrera GO slot car set is under $100 for the first time, down 20% to $99.12, and our radio control Ferrari F1 cars are just $38.36.

All discounts are based on the manufacturer's RRP and are automatically applied - no need to enter any code. This is not valid with any other offer and will last until after the Grand Prix or until sold out.

While you're there, check out our three latest additions to the range, the TOMICA diecast models of the Toyota 86, Subaru WRX STI and Lexus IS350 F Sport. TOMICA is a Japanese institution for their quality and value, and we are very lucky to have a limited supply of stock in Australia - no need to wait weeks for imports!

As always, everything on modelcarsales includes free delivery across Australia.

All the best, and if there are any questions, shout out.

    this smells like SPAM

    • Why do you say that?

      • -1

because I don't see any bargains and your prices were the same last week.

Most of the Formula 1 cars have only been recently uploaded. As we wrote, all of these discounts are based off the RRP of our suppliers so they are most definitely genuine.

We like to think we have a decent track record on this site so I don't know why we'd start spamming now!

So how can you claim you have reduced your prices by 20% ??

Claiming a saving compared to the RRP when you don't normally sell at RRP is deceptive and misleading and against the ACCC advertising laws.

          https://www.accc.gov.au/business/pricing/displaying-prices#t…

Statements such as 'Was $150/Now $100' or '$150 Now $100' are likely to be misleading if products have not been sold at the specified 'before' or 'strike through' prices in a reasonable period immediately before the sale commences.

        • @jv:

may be misrepresenting potential savings if the product has never been sold at the RRP or the RRP does not reflect a current market price.

We've listed them at a discount of the current market price used by our supplier - feel free to check.

        • @modelcarsales:

"We've listed them at a discount of the current market price used by our supplier"

Since you do not normally sell these at RRP and you admit you haven't sold them at that price 'immediately before the sale commenced'. The only reason you would post these price comparisons is to mislead customers…

  • JV really wants an oldsmobile to match his car in his driveway

    • No I don't

      • Maybe a replica spam-mobile then

        • I don't like spam… Are you new here ?

          Fire Engines aren't pro-fires
          Ghostmobile isn't pro-ghosts

          lulz :)

  • Raikkonen can be had for €100 ($150~) from Germany. Ricciardo for €110 ($163~).

If I can get them cheaper including postage around the world, I'm sure you could do better from Aus. Good price on Prost and Hamilton for local stock though, but it's not really a big saving over what can be had elsewhere. I'm not saying it's better to buy them from Europe, just saying the prices here are not that spectacular.

Minichamps is a German brand so I have no doubt these sellers are benefiting from local pricing.

It's the age-old question then of whether you save $20 or so dealing with someone on the other side of the world and having it take weeks to ship, or getting to deal with local customer service and local stock.

    +'ve for anything F1 related!

Just in addition. I bought one of these from my local target. If someone prefers a cheaper f1 remote car that's red bull instead of Ferrari. Not available online but can find the odd one in store

    https://www.target.com.au/p/red-bull-racing-formula-one-remo…

$15. Great deal. Think there was a post on ozbargain about this a while ago.

It's the same brand as the remote Ferrari the op is selling

    • Yeah, Target did a huge run-out of these over Christmas and January. Even at their scale, we don't know how they could have made money on that.

Nevertheless, if you can find one at that price, snap it up!
