Which Retailers Are Selling Red Tulip Small Eggs in Melbourne, 2016?

The amount of Red Tulip eggs available for Easter has reduced in the last couple of years, mostly due to the company who owns Cadbury and Red Tulip deleting many of their lines bit by bit.

I am attempting to find out whether there are still stocks of Red Tulip small solid milk chocolate eggs and Red Tulip Caramel eggs. I like these eggs better than the Cadbury version of these eggs but I haven't seen any this year so far. I know Red Tulip discontinued the Mint eggs in the last few year and I'm wondering if they've made the same decision on the other small egg varieties.

I saw in another OzBargain post that Big W have Red Tulip Rabbits but I don't know if they have any other Red Tulip products. I'm hoping to go there on Tuesday and get some discounted Big W gift cards if they have any left in stock. I'll pick up some Red Tulip eggs if they have any.

Does anyone have any ideas as to who is stocking these eggs this year?

NOTE: I know there has been some recipe variations in the last few years with Red Tulip but I still enjoyed the Red Tulip eggs I found last year so I'm prepared to try whatever is available this year.

  • I saw Red Tulip caramel ones in Big W. It was a large bag on sale $16 in SA but I assume it would be all stores

    • Thank you. I will go looking tomorrow.

      • Thank you.

I went to Big W today and they had the 1kg bags for $16. The usual price is $20 for this item. I walked all around the Easter section and the bags of Red Tulip were in the last section I looked. The bag I got was a mixture of Caramel eggs and Solid Milk Chocolate Eggs.

  • Have you thought of ringing Red Tulip to ask them who stocks what you're after?

    • I considered contacting the parent company but as I started researching the question over the long weekend I thought asking here might be quicker.

I've also questioned the parent companies of other brands on this type of issue and they haven't given good information before. I asked a fruit juice company once if Woolworths still stocked a specific line of a product and they wouldn't give me a clear answer. They said that Woolworths could stock the product but wouldn't confirm if Woolworths had recently purchased it. It took another couple of days digging to get an answer directly from Woolworths about the fact that they were no longer stocking the specific product line I was after.

  • Cadbury bought Red Tulip out donkey's years ago (1980's according to the website)

I wouldn't have thought there would be any difference in the products these days. Wouldn't surprise me if all products came off the same line and just had different foil wrappers put on them.

I used to love the Red Tulip boxes of chocolates. But they soon went the way of button up boots.

    • I've known for a while that they have the same parent company but there is still a taste difference between Red Tulip and Cadbury. I like Cadbury chocolate but I like Red Tulip more. I can get Cadbury chocolate any time of the year but Red Tulip is special for Easter.
