      • It's US$999 + Costco membership. Other US retailers sell the same 512gb model for US$1250, so US$150 savings are over the similarly spec'ed laptop, in the US.

But compared to the Oz model, after FX and delivery, it is slightly more expensive in AUD terms, but the screen, SSD and RAM upgrades make it much better value, IMO.

        • Plus because it's over $1000AUS don't you have to pay import fees?

    • So upfront cost is 1149 USD. Let's assume an optimistic rising exchange rate of 0.75, that's already 1532 AUD ie. $200 more expensive. Let's not forget to include shipping.

  • Have just pulled the trigger. There are only 23 units left in this deal as of now. I hope it'll last me long enough (not a gamer or a video editor but just uni and other daily use).

  • Bit the bullet and bought it, I was going to buy a zenbook anyway and this was too good of a deal to pass.

  • I assume since this is the touchscreen model it's a glossy screen?

  • UX303UB users, what's the battery time like? I can only find the battery life for QHD version and I'd love to know the battery life for the FHD before I pull the trigger. My guess is that it'll be 1.5~2 hours longer similar to the battery life difference between xps 13 FHD and QHD version

  • I believe it has an extra RAM slot in addition to the one that is soldered. So, it can be configured to 12GB altogether.

Only suggestion is please check th battery wattage and also check with futo online if the seller actually has the laptops in stock. I ordered an UX303FA last month and had to wait to 20 odd days to ship. I ended up getting a refund. The seller is good though!!

    • Well, now they are sold out so OP (or a mod) should update the deal.

      • I have an estimated delivery of Tuesday, Mar 15. Happy with that if it sticks to the schedule.

        • +1

Yeah, same here, between 15th and 17th.

          @AussieDaddy:

Got a message from them saying they have all the laptops in stock and will be shipping most of them today and tomorrow :)

        • @dimsum2: Ta. I might send them a short message, asking them to deliver it the days I am home next week.

Just got one for my partner. Had a Zenbook UX21e years back which wasn't very flash, but I'm expecting this one to be a nice little performer.

    • I think you may have gotten the last one. It's now sold out.

      PS: Where's the pos :P?

      • +1

Heh sorry, was just in a mad rush to buy one! Pos coming atcha! Thanks for posting the deal :)

  • I orderred it but later learned that VR (HTC vivi) can't run on NVIDIA GeForce 940M and decided to give it up. If someone still want one at this discount price, please PM me, or I will cancel my order tomorrow night.

  • Mine's apparently been despatched already? Anyone else?

    • Yep. Pretty quick :)

  • Mine was just delivered.

    • Also, Cashrewards cashback amount $22.27 :)

  • Got mine today.

Is it meant to come with a sleeve case and an Ethernet adaptor (and perhaps one other adaptor)?

    I didn't get these in the box…

Specs definitely say that there is a 10/100/1000 ethernet connection and since there isn't one on the machine it would have to be via an adaptor?

Is it the same for everyone else?

    • UX303LB (i7 broadwell + 940m) didn't get these either.
However my friend with the UX303 i5 (4200U) model got the sleeve case.
Really strange of ASUS not to include the sleeve case for a higher spec'd model.

      • Thanks for the info.

While not getting the sleeve case is disappointing, my real issue is not getting the gigabit Ethernet adaptor.

Without that adaptor, this laptop does not have gigabit Ethernet (or any Ethernet) as it was specified to have.

        • I never got this adaptor either haha, just used one from ebay around $15

  • Well got the laptop today. I do like everything about it so far. Although I do agree that lack of Ethernet adapter and the lack of sleeve case are very disappointing.

However my issue is that it seems that the hinge issue still hasn't been fixed. The only reason why I bought this laptop in the first place was because Lisa from MobileTechReview said that they've used a new hinge mechanism for it. However, When you open up the laptop screen to its max angle and try to close it, it'll make a cracking noise and also when I'm trying to close the lid from one side (instead of closing it from the middle), it will make the cracking noise as well… Not happy.

Anyone else having the same issue as well?

    • I have the UX303LB (Broadwell version), which definitely has the older hinge mechanism, bought in August 2015 ($1350) from DSE.
Definitely had that small cracking noise, although at the moment there's nothing functionally wrong apart from the screen has a little play back and forth when open.

See here: You can extend to 2 years international warranty on top of the existing 1 year for $149
      http://shop.asus.com/store/asusau/en_AU/list/ThemeID.3402310…
They must have removed the 2 years local warranty extension.
Can buy anytime within your warranty period.

I don't care what anyone says about ACL, but I'm going to get the extended warranty due to the known hinge mechanism, and with the advances in computing power of 10-15% improvement each year, I expect my UX303 to last at least 3-5 years if not longer (Buy a spare battery from ebay to DIY swap).

    • If you can take the bottom panel off please tell us what type of hinge it has based on this URL:

      http://www.mobiletechreview.com/notebooks/Asus-ZenBook-UX303…

There's a bit where it compares the old hinge with the new one.

      • To take the panel off, you need torx screwdrivers (not that uncommon tbh) to remove all the exposed screws on the bottom plate, also, two cross type/philips head screws under two rubber feet closest to the hinge.
That's if the backplate screws didn't change (they shouldn't have) from the broadwell to skylake refresh

        • Well I plan on replacing the stock SSD with a 512GB Samsung Evo so I guess I'll find out when I get mine. 'Fast' way couriers my butt.

        • +1

Received my laptop today, and the hinge on mine is as smooth as butter without making any clicking noises etc.

  • So apparently they told me out of stock so it wont ship.. (Was in the group deal)

    Isnt this the same one?
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ASUS-ZenBook-UX303UB-Intel-i7-650…

    • So did you purchase it already or were you planning to buy it but it was out of stock?

      • Paid for already (part of group deal).
Wouldve been helpful if i knew earlier that this wouldve happened.
        Ctechie deal is ending soon

    • Can we remove this comment as it might have been a false alarm, Was msgd about possible shipments tomorow and friday.

  • Mine has been delivered!

Wondering if anyone else has been able to access the device encryption settings? From what I can tell it looks like the laptop does not have instant go (connected standby) enabled which results in the device encryption being unavailable. This seems pretty odd for the latest and greatest Skylake chipset - my old Asus T100 supported it just fine!

Anyone have any ideas? I have done quite a bit of googling but seem to be unable to find an answer at this point.

    Cheers
