Damn, I used mine a couple of weeks ago and only got 1 month. But at least I was able to buy a bunch of the half price subscriptions.

    • Yeh me too.
      Anyway to get around it?

Well, I actually had already used a google play trial about a year ago. So I think you eventually become eligible for another trial.

    Sweet, thanks OP.
You get a further 10% off albums if you're a Google music subscriber, too - so those albums end up being $1.79!

  • Those who have used both Spotify and Google music, which do you think is better?

From A/B testing, I've found Spotify to have overall better and more consistent sound quality across the board (GP seems to have a bit of inconsistency from my experience). I also like spotify because of the full desktop app (I know, you can download and compile source to make the google play desktop app, but it has a fair few bugs, and doesn't allow offline music). Playlists are also better in spotify, and there are a large amount of pre-made playlists suited to all genres, and I like the radio. Just my 2c.

I've found that Spotify has more of the music I listen to - mind you, it's been a while since I used GPM.

      • But with GPM you can upload any music that it doesn't have. Which is awesome.

        • You can, but that's only useful if you have the missing files. I don't, and I don't want to buy them.

    • Mobile Apps: Google
      Tailored Playlists: Spotify
Content: Even, both have their pro's and con's

I prefer spotify personally. better support, actual desktop app, more range towards the genres I listen to

  • I still have not claimed my Chromecast offer lol.

  • Google play has a surprisingly extensive catalogue

I signed up to Google play couple of months ago & like it a lot.. But I have no idea why someone would download/buy an album if you can just listen to it in stream mode. Same with uploading your own music if you can just listen to it on Google play..

Albums bought and I believe even uploaded music will still be available in your library after a subscription is cancelled.

  • I thought you could download songs on Google Play and play them in offline mode? Has this changed?

    • +1

You can still download the mp3s, yes.

Excellent thanks. It only shows up as 30 days for me…same for everyone else?

  • Thanks OP, love the new Coldplay album (borrowed it from a friend). Have been waiting for it to come on sale, this is a ridiculous price! After a bit of a listen, decided to pick up Foal and Twenty One Pilots too. I love these bargains Google Play has. Since Emusic started blocking everything for Aussies and Amie Street was shuttered, it's been tough finding cheap music.

  • Why does it only say 30 day trial when I click the deal..have never signed up or used Google Play before either ??

if you can't see the 3 months offer, go to https://play.google.com/
then you should see the big ad to click on in the banner at the top of the page.
If you don't see it then it means google think you're not a new subscriber, I see it with one google account but not with another one that I started the 2 months free on the other day.
