XU1 Multi-Tool $24.15 @ Bunnings [Greenacre, NSW]

80

I went to Bunnings to buy some sand paper but though it might take forever to sand manually so i went looking for a cheap multi-tool. They were unloading a pallet of these and they didnt have a price tag yet but they scan for $24.15 . Cheapest price i have ever seen for a multi-tool.

Come with 1 saw blade and 3 sanding paper.

These are obviously not trade-man quality tool but it would be perfect for weekend DIYer.

Couldn't find it on the Bunnings website so not sure if nation wide but there are at least 15 left at Bunnings Greenacre.

  • Its 48 NZD here so definitely worth the price - shown here at Bunnings NZ

  • Anything that was going to take ages to sand by hand is going to take ages++ to do with a mutitool.

    Good price though

    • Not exactly true. I find sanding filler on skirting much quicker with the multi tool. Key is to use the correct grit sandpaper. Also needs less exertion to use a multi tool than hand sand.

Sounds like you are doing it wrong. If you are continually needing to sand filler, then you are definitely applying it wrong.

Yep, that is definitely the key when hand sanding as well.

Also needs less exertion to use a multi tool than hand sand.

However it requires significantly more effort to lift and carry the power tool.

        • You are generally pressing down on the power tool and its not even heavy, the effort required to lift this power tool is a lot less than the repetitive back and forth hand movement.

I never said I was continually sanding it. I have a cordless 12v multi tool that allows me to not have to get down on my knees and hand sand the skirt. It's more like a further extension of my arm. It works well for me.

I will admit the sound can be annoying.

I also find the triangle point great for doing little detail bits or in tight areas which would be near impossible with sandpaper.

  • Details with user manual although this one from the web site is listed as Model XMT-701 and is 250W.

  • +1

I have one of these after it failed miserably at the first 3 tasks i set it, it has sat on the shelf since. might be ok for grout removal if you find yourself needing to do that.
