so the price has increased then?
A price killer
These new ultra cards. Do the 64 GB ones write much faster than the 32 GB ones?
The US site only show the 30MB/s, and AUS site only shows 48MB/s read-speed products. Nothing about 80MB/s or write-speeds.
I just know they'll write 2x longer.
they're priced/graded based on their class (which gets a bit more mercurial in real life performance)
Look for the logo on the front, the Class 2/4/6/8/10 are the older SD standard (10 inside of the letter C), the UHC 1/3 (1 inside of the letter U) ones are the better/newer current SDXC's.
There's 3 kinds of SD devices (check what compatibility your phone/camera/devices have, if you can),
UHC, SD High speed (class 10), SD normal (Class 6), they are the only restriction on what you should buy.As for speed, the number indicates MB/sec. UHC 1 = 10 & UHC 3 = 30mb/sec.
use a guide like http://pct1.sandisk.com/NewSearch.aspx to find your device to see if it has UHC (to save any grief)
had to do a "define mercurial" in Google… but thanks for adding a new word to my vocab. :)
It's a handy one to have around here, OzB'ers can be a fickle bunch indeed! ;)
vernacular
:D
Just to add to Toliman's informative post, I suggest formatting the SD card you are about to use in the device using the devices built in formatting feature.
I won't go into an interminable post, other than to say I believe it is related to cluster sizes and formatting in the device might determine the optimum cluster size for that sd card/device pairing.
trots off to Google define interminable… getting me sum educashun today for shor.
So the advertised post is UHC 1 which is only 10mb/s??
Am i missing something as your explanation mentioned UHc 1 or 3 is better (i assume faster) than the old class 10 series??,
Just wondering as i bought a gopro hero+ lcd, wondering what read/write speed SanDisk will work? Is there a particular read/write speed required? as i thought class 10 was 30 mb/s whereas your saying UHc 1 = 10 mb/s?
the card will only go as fast as the interface it's plugged into. If the camera doesn't have a fast interface, there's no reason to spend more on the card.
Keep in mind, the UHC 3's are rated for 30mb/sec as the minimum speed for recording. And, for playback.
They can go faster… and probably should be able to do that.
The rating is there so you can record 1080p or 2160p (4k) without skipping or dropping frames as you record video.
Wait for their next deal drop down to $25 otherwise no deal.
Still waiting for Samsung EVO+ 64GB for under $30 deal.
Any chance of a 128gb Samsung evo going on sale?
What do you think?:)
no :(
Would these be good for the Sony action camera as20?
So are these 80MB/s cards now the fastest-writing cards in the Sandisk range? According to PC Byte's Ebay store, these write at "Up To 50MB/s", where the extreme cards are apparently slower at "Up To 40MB/s":
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SanDisk-32GB-Extreme-Micro-SD-SDH…Or is there also a new faster Extreme range that I haven't found?
extreme pro writes at 90mbs
also some of the extreme series are UHS 3 - which apparently helps with 4k compatability (blackmagic camera from memory)
and also the extreme series handles random writes better as this ultra 50mbs write is sequential.
Can anyone comment on pcbytes delivery speed? It says dispatch within 24 hours. Holidays need it by march 12. Would this arrive in time?
Need it for a gopro hero + lcd, has anyone used these uhc 1 class cards in go pros? They're faster than class 10 old cards right? So im assuming this card will work well with standard 1080 hd video recording??
2-3 days max.
So alot faster than shoppingsquare or any other of the major sd card selling online retailers? And always genuine stock and good quality/no issues?
Can anyone with a gopro comment on the fact that 32GB cards storage wise are more than enough before a battery runs out? Seeems comments here are that 32GB will handle HD video easily between one battery charge, and therefore you're better of buying a high class speed 32GB rather than a similar costing 64gb lower class speed card?
Confused but pcbytes pricing - the UHC class 3 is cheaper than the UHC class 1? Am i missing something? Surely the class 3 is a better deal for the same 32gb? It would be faster read/write wouldn't it?
26.95 for the 32gb UHC 3:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SanDisk-Extreme-32GB-Micro-SD-SDH…
$52.95 for the 32gb UHC 1:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SanDisk-32GB-Extreme-Plus-micro-S…
the 2 products you link
the UHS 3 is a newer product but the speed is 90/40 read/writethe UHS cards is a old model but is 80/50
slightly different depending what you want.
You should know that getting fast write speeds the price goes up pretty quickly
obviously though here such a big difference isnt worth it.they probably just got the old model at a higher price so they have to try sell it at a higher price until they decide to slash it.
Now $29.95
"Killer prices" reserved for $28.88 deal, which you copy/pasted the deal info from.
This is 9% more mannnn!
