Hi there
Looking for a new iPod Nano to replace my 10 year old Nano which has just bitten the dust.
Mostly advertised for ~$218, but wondering whether anyone has any cheaper options?
Thanks
Stephen

Cheaper options as in, NOT an iPod nano?
there are loads of cheap alternatives, mainly Sansa Clip+ and Clip Jam players which do a decent job of playing music without breaking the bank. They can store 4 to 8GB internally but you can stick in a MicroSD card for more storage.
If you're willing to explore a bit of unknown territory, some chinese brands are now producing some high-end lossless music players that support hi-def audio.

the whole range from Aliexpress

can you actually buy the sansa clip series in australia? I had to buy my Clip Zip from Amazon a few years ago when the AUD was above parity. I'd imagine shipping now to be pretty expensive.
There are only available from Amazon nowadays. A few years back there used to be a ebay UK seller who sells the Clip Pluses for around $45 AUD, but they were refurbed units (probably unreliable).
I have not seen any aussie retailer stock Sansa players anymore. Nothing shows up on Static Ice.
A little sad since they get great reviews, plus they're cheap.
edit: this store seems to stock some, but they're probably imported stock.

Wow I can't believe that store sells the Jams for $80. That's ludicrous pricing! I remember buying my clip zip for 30 bucks.
At that kind of price, wouldn't you be better off going for Fiio M3?
It's $80 and they are a reasonable brand in DAP market so I'd assume it'd be at least half decent.
If you have a 1st generation Nano Apple has recalled them all and will replace it with a new Nano free of charge. I got a silver one.

Identifying an iPod nano (1st gen):
It has a black or white plastic front and a silver metal back - later iPod nano models have a metal front and back.
Thanks sparkles. Just found my iPod Nano 1G. How did you know about the recall? Did they send out an email? Is the replacement the latest version 7G?

See here a post I made way back in 2011
Apparently people got much newer ipods in return
I got one that looks like this.

I think it's 16GB. Didn't get headphones or cable, just the iPod body in silver.
Just with a quick eBay search. It looks legit.
