Travel Insurance Direct had the best pricing/benefits on an annual policy that i could find, and 10% sweetens the deal.
Have claimed with them previously and it was a painless experience so happy to use them again.

what are the other companies that give you same benefits ?
Souther Cross Travel Insurance were really good for our big trip. Also OzBargainers will know they run quarterly specials for 10% off. There's one right now I think.
I researched the ass out of them (largely based on OzBargain recommendation), they came up really well. However I'm keen to know if I could do better. We plan to do a lot of travel this year, across Asia & US.
Coupon is 'WOW" (10% off).
And seems to be cheaper and includes better coverage for my search.
Looks good, seems to be cheapest I've seen for an upcoming trip, though no option to reduce excess?
The annual deal on TID looks good…
TRAVEL20 gets you 20% off travel insurance at Australia Post. I thinks it's been posted as a deal before.
do they cover you for any purchases you make whilst on the trip? i plan on buying a camera in HKG (fuji x100t), and would be pretty annoyed if my butter fingers dropped the camera and was not covered.
Don't see why not - so long as you have the receipt.
There is a payout limit unless you specify the item/cost when you buy your insurance.
If you know exactly which model you're buying and how much you anticipate paying - then you could list it, which would increase your premium.
But what if you find an alternative model when you get there ?
You could always use the Chat-line on their website - they aim to be helpful.
I was under the impression that in order to list the items for separate cover one had to own it prior to obtaining coverage.
I will find out if I can obtain coverage for an anticipated purchase and post my findings here later.
$210 for 2 people, 3 weeks in Ireland… Another $75 to add 2 days in Dubai.
Jeepers Creepers!
Seems international flights (Asia, at least) keeps getting cheaper, while insurance keeps going up.
I've never claimed. Maybe i should've. Insurance these days seems to be about what you get back, a game of give & take.
Just out of interest, why not use the free insurance that comes with your gold/platinum credit card? If you don't have one, why not get one?
Choice Magazine has reviewed the travel insurance many many times, and the "free" insurance (usually a Zurich Policy) is comparable to any basic paid policy. You don't even need to buy your fares through your credit card anymore.
If you want to add extras such as adventure sports, this is also easy and inexpensive.
Not sure about yours but my credit card insurance incurs a $200 excess and a multitude of exemptions that they will cover. I haven't looked into requesting for lowering the excess or extra cover for sports etc but it'd be interesting to hear from somebody that has claimed successfully? From what I've researched, credit card insurance isn't the best…
Just a note: An airplane is considered a public place. So too bad if you need to make a claim about lost or stolen property while on an airplane, TID will reject it.
WTF GO READ AND REREAD BEFORE YOU POST. If this was really the case they wouldn't still be in business…
Their PDS clearly states they won't cover you only if it is UNSUPERVISED property. Fairly certain sitting next to/under/adjacent to it on public transport means supervised…
Thanks OP. Just used it.
they used to be great.. am I the only one that finds them to be on the pricey side these days even with 10%…
great if its just a trip to bali or something but when your looking at going to Europe for 3 months or more the gap becomes > hundred dollars compared to some other company's who offer for the most part the same benefits give or take…
