  • Hi Rep,

Haven't seen any good deals to Seoul lately.

Do you know of anything for around mid May by any chance?

    Thanks

    • +2

a nice way to do Seoul is to do Japan for at least a few days and then just add on a return Seoul flight, I think it added less than $100 for me

  • I look at my desired dates for Sydney<>Shanghai, June 11-June 19, but all the cheap return flights have a 17 hour layover in Kuala Lumpur. Anybody having luck finding more efficient return flights from Shanghai?

    • same here, the flight I want has a pretty good layover of 1 hour when going…but has a 17 hours layover when coming back

    • Try booking the flights individually and give yourself a day or two in kl

    Meanwhile in Adelaide 😢

    • you might be suprised, but qatar airlines flies out of adelaide and not brisbane… wtf

You'd better check with Airasia website directly. I have checked for the same date and it is cheaper by $50 booking directly with Airasia

I have investigated further and if you click on the detail on Zuji, you can see that there is extra charge of $40

Payment and Service fees (AirAsia X Flights) $ 40.00

This is the same charge for other agents on IWTF search. You'd better to go directly to airasia website to book and pay with Paypal for no extra surcharge. Also there maybe extra fees involved from travel agent when you change your ticket.

The fare listed on IWTF search is $40 more than the fare you get directly from "airasia.com" This means that IWTF did not show the cheapest price with their search engine for budget airlines. If this happens with airasia, it can be the case with scoot as well.

    • Hi samehada,

I was not aware that it was cheaper to go direct, usually we are the same or cheaper than direct. The mods have made a note about this in the OP.

But why would you goto Beijing/Shanghai….

    • +3

You must be those who love Bangkok then.

  • i flew to seoul 2 years ago via beijing. The flight to beijing was diverted due to smog, to seoul. I had to then wait on the plane for 3 hours then fly back to beijing, just to miss the connecting flight to seoul, which was with the same airline. nightmare

I go to China often, for pleasure and always seem to take this flight. The layover sucks, but the capsule hotel at KLIA2 is great and actually makes it worth it. I can have a shower, get good wifi (do some work) and rest.

Airasia usually has shitty stop overs no matter what if booked on the same ticket. They don't want to have to rebook you, so they just don't let you book connecting flights with short stopovers. However, beijing and shanghai is a once a day flight, so no solution to that. Guangzhou and Hong Kong have multiple flights, that you can get a better connection by booking seperate sectors (although sometimes it might be a higher price, sometimes not).

  • so cheap!

  • Thanks IWTF!

Does anyone a good time to book fares to Thailand for a trip in late August?

    • +1

The best time to book AirAsia is when they have their super sales and then can book up to 1.1 year ahead. Currently AirAsia prices are way over the odds for that time of the year. Based on those prices, you would be better with a full service airline (MAS, Qantas, Emirates) I have seen AirAsia prices drop significantly for Kul - Dmk and Dmk-Kul very close to booking date. I don't know about the Syd-Kul leg. Often booking the DMK - KUL leg separately to KUL-SYD can save you some money, but you have to do immigration and collect bags and recheck in at KUL. Not such a hassle if only have cabin baggage.

      • Thanks for the tips mate!

  • seems like a great deal if only the visa to China is also a bargain!

  • If you find that you have a long layover at Kul. Tune hotel is cheapish (approx $70 maybe?) and right at the airport. And you might even save a few dollars by booking the 2 legs separately as AirAsia usually charge extra for the convenience of a 'fly thru' booking.

  • "subscribe" how do I do that?

    • +1

If you click on the store page under any deal you will see the subscribe button near the top, just above the active deals header —-> 'subscribe (507 subscribers)'. You can subscribe on any store on OzBargain via that method and you'll receive an email everytime a deal is posted for that store.
