A really good solution for the infected is Coconut Oil it sends them fleeing and is the best solution I have tested

Any OzBargainers with cheap access to said Coconut Oil!? *8vD
I have 5 Girls, all at Different Academic establishments.. and the fight against the tiny parasites is a Weekly event. *8vD
*oh, and I'm working the budget to see if Po-Lice will be economically viable - keeping in mind I buy packets of hair ties almost weekly. (Hair Ties and single socks keep eloping from this house!) *8v/

      • oh god, what are your schools doing about it?!

We have had one instance in the past 7 years of schooling.

They are harmless, but such a pain!

      • Indian grocery stores.

      • (Hair Ties and single socks keep eloping from this house!)

I know your pain! We have dozens of single socks. I think they swap with other kids.

If it is so frequent, perhaps you are not effectively removing the eggs?
Its damned hard. I ended up doing belt & braces: nit comb plus 1% malathion.
Either that, or the classmates are not doing it. How do you stop schoolgirls huddling?

        P.S. to my original post:
All those certifications mean at most they filled out a form saying only approved ingredients were used.
Some of those ingredients have some preventative effect when soaked in sufficient quantity through the hair.
They achieve zero in a hairband.

      • Coconut oil, like many things, will kill lice but not the nits. The nits are the hard part.

      • "*8vD"?

      • You deserve some free samples of Po-Lice, then you can report back to the sceptics among us how effective they really are (or not)!

A hair tie soaked in essential oils for $30+ a packet?

A have a problem with products like this preying on the gullible and ignorant.
Deceptive wording implies product has been tested for efficacy, but does not actually say it.

I don't want to support woowoo remedies, but…

Po-Lice is a deliciously awful pun that works surprisingly well if you put on your roughest Australian accent.

I'm almost upvoting just for that.

    • Hi Manic,

Firstly we have 8 high quality treated hair ties in each packet. Each hair tie lasts for 2 weeks, working out to under $2 per week less than a coffee to protect your children, and the price is under $30 per packet of 8. We in no way are being deceptive with wording, this product has been in the USA and Asia. Please email us through the website and we will send you a copy of the university stamped and signed study showing the hair tie effectiveness.

      Kind regards

Ooohh! A stamped and signed study!
I think I'd prefer something from a respected peer-reviewed journal thankyou.

Real studies show that no repellents are effective. Sorry folks.
Unless you put so much tea-tree oil in the hair that the smell drives other kids away.
Thats why lice are such a problem! (not that they do much real harm)

If it was as easy as you claim, everybody would have been doing it years ago. Please go back to selling miracle weight-loss remedies.

        • Well can't help people that don't want a solution. If FDA, CPSR, TDS, USP-51, USTRA, COA certification as well as university studies which are where 90% of studies are done isn't good enough for you nothing will be.

We wish you well in your other methods. Good luck :)

        • @kylegas85:
Well where's the studies then? Where's the certifications?
I've had a look on google and cant find either linked anywhere…

Also not a bargain they are $11.99 at chemist warehouse http://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/78335/Po-Lice-Lice-De…

        • @DarkLotus: Contact us via email and we can send them all to you. That is a 4 pack you have referenced not an 8. Kind regards

          @kylegas85:

Just upload and then link to them from here so everybody can read.

          @kylegas85:

If FDA, CPSR, TDS, USP-51, USTRA, COA certification

There you go again, implying that such certification implies endorsement of effectiveness. That is a lie.

        • +2

          @kylegas85:
What do these certifications have to do with effectiveness?

          FDA: Food and Drug Administration
          CPSR: Cosmetic Product Safety Report
          USP-51: USP-51 Preservative Challenge Test - Cosmetic

        • @kylegas85:
This product has them all too. You can even get it rectally. Does it stop nits?
          https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cder/drugsatfda/index…
(Hint: the answer is 'no'. It's paracetamol. But it does have all those certifications. Ergo don't say they prove your product stops nits).

        • -1

@seanbaussie: We aren't forcing you to buy, if you don't want to try the product yourself and see than thats up to you. Good luck

        • -1

@manic: Offered to send you a study, we still haven't had an email from you requesting it. You have no intention of purchasing the product and also no matter what we offer or provided you, it still would not be good enough. Best of luck.

        • @kylegas85:

Hey i emailed you last night asking for the studies and certifications.

          No response thus far.

working out to under $2 per week less than a coffee to protect your children

        7-11 coffee is $1.

        • If you have 1 coffee a week ;) haha

  • Well it has been a while since i was at school but if memory serves me correct 11.99 * 2 = $23.98 So i could buy two four packs for less than the price of an 8 pack.

Why can you not link to these certifications in public?

    • -1

Chemist warehouse are offering the same price at 30% off, it's a good deal they are running well below the RRP, they are always lower than most retail outlets. Our price for the 8 pack however works out to $21 plus postage, being cheaper per band. If you want to add postage costs you'd also have to add you car petrol and usage costs plus time.

If i could post them on oz bargain i would for you. The documents we have are not online that's why we cannot link to them. It's very simple though if you wish to see them email us and ill send them to you. You can then verify it with anyone that is interested on here. We can't do more than offer the documents to you, if you really want them and are not just here to troll please email.

      Kind regards

  • I had one child (out of three) who was atrocious at attracting nits and (near) impossible to get rid of for close to 2 years on and off. (The other two rarely got them, and if they did were gone after one thorough combing). I say all chemist/supermarket stuff are relatively worthless and overpriced, it is in the combing of the nits (eggs) out. In the end plenty of conditioner and nightly nit combing for four weeks, as mentioned above. Invest in s good comb and patience…

  • "Each box contains eight bands, providing families with up to 4 months of hair lice defence. See how it works!"

I would love to see how this works. eight bands @ 2 weeks…
What is your definition of family? ie the minimum number of people required to pass as a family unit

Actually. How many weeks are within 4 months?
