  • Are Big W still accepting these? because they no longer accept Everyday Rewards cards…

    • Interesting… Good question jv, I'll ask and find you an answer tomorrow morning. They're listed as a participating store on the Groupon page.

    • +3

Only yesterday, I went into Big W and bought a ticketmaster gift card, paying using a Wish card. So yes, as of yesterday, they were still accepting Wish cards.

      • Thanks for updating!

      • Clarification: I was using a physical gift card, but I would imagine it will be the same for egift card.

      • They aren't supposed to. You got lucky.

        • Really? When did things change?

I just googled and according to this, Big W is still listed as one of the stores that accepts the wish card.

        • +2

@bluesky: he meant you weren't suppose to be able to buy a gift card and pay with a gift card

        • @gazza88: Oh, ok, I see what you mean.

I can at least understand not being able to buy a wish card using a wish card (which will extend expiry). But why stop people from getting other types of cards, e.g. ticketmaster, skype etc?

I'm not sure what the price of BP petrol has to do with this, but yes, you can use a WISH card at Woolworths Petrol (and BigW @jv). You can't really combine with the AMEX deal, since you need to spend on your AMEX for that… not on a gift card. If you spend over the $100/$80 requirement, you can put just the extra amount on a gift card, but really this has nothing to do with the AMEX deal. Also, I don't think Cash Rewards counts for Woolworths Group purchases from Groupon.

    • Great points, thanks for clarifying! I was just excited by how cheap prices are in general haha

  • +1

CashRewards won't pay if paying by gift card

    • Noted :) I believe the cash rewards applies to your Groupon purchase, which you can use to purchase these WISH gift cards. Let me know if I'm mistaken.

      • Still mistaken, won't pay on purchasing gift cards

        • Thanks for clarifying! I've edited the deal minus the AmEx and Cash Rewards clauses.

      • You may be able to earn $10 referral credit for new accounts, meaning a possible $10 for every second voucher you buy.
Your 'friend' buys one at 95
You buy one later at 85.
Noting that referral credit takes 3 days to arrive.

        • Does the $10 credit Groupon work on eGift card specifically? Plus it says it takes 7 to 10 days for referral to be credited which is still not a bother (but not 3 days). Also it says "In order to receive your reward, just be sure to have a credit card on file" so if I'm paying same card with different group-on accounts it will detect it? If not then this is Amazing ! $85 for referring yourself?

        • Hence I put 'may' in italics. You got nothing to lose by trying.

        • @battler:

          yeah true,

        • Your account will be banned by Groupon if doing like this, costing more than you can save, not recommended.

BTW,if you want save more, use PricePal,not Cashrewards.PricePal actually pays out Groupon eGift Card purchase even though condition says no.My early December purchase was tracked and now on schedule(Ready to Pay) to be paid out at the end of this month.

        • @Neoika: Even if it tracks it, it doesn't mean it will definitely pay out though? or have you already cashed one out?

        • @Inflow: PricePal runs payment at the end of month. As I said,it is on schedule to be paid out on Monday now.So it is very likely to happen.Since I did not purchase any Giftcard thereafter,PricaPal may be able to filter the transactions by now.

        • @Neoika: I'll ask you on Monday if you received it,

        • +1

@Inflow: Update:PricePal paid out cashback for my Big W eGift Cards purchase in early December.

        • @Neoika: Nice. Thanks for telling.

  • How do you get the last few dollars/cents out of your gift card?

    • Self service at Woolworths

    • +2

You can do a split payment using the remaining amount on your card, with the balance paid using cash.

    • +4

Use it, then pay the rest with next gift card

I normally get this from Cashrewards, is there any extra benefits from using Groupon instead or is it the same?

    • +1

Good point, I'm browsing through the Cashrewards website and If I understand correctly, the saving is the same.

      • +2

with cashrewards, you can set any value (including cents) between $5-500, you're not restricted to fixed amounts as seen in the groupon deal

        • thanks for letting us know, I've never seen that before

    • +6

Cash rewards takes hours. Groupon takes days.

    • Groupon you can get referral credit for referring your 'friend'. The one that looks exactly the same as you.
      That's about it

  • Can I use these egift cards to purchase opal credit instore?

    • +2

yes, i do this all the time for my opal top-ups no issues with it at town hall

  • +9

Sorry OP, but this isn't a deal. Cashrewards always has it for this price, and delivers much faster than groupon does (generally within an hour or two v.s. waiting for days.)

    • It's good to be notified if you have Groupon credit that needs using up though. But otherwise cashrewards+1

    • +1

All good, you're right. I'm just starting to use the Cash Rewards website now (shame, I know) so I thought it was some exciting deal that Groupon had exclusively.

P.S. Just wondering… Do I mark this as expired or just let it be for 45 days?

      • No need to mark it as expired just because some people don't think it's a good deal - the offer is still active after all :)

  • Why i often see these Woolworths Gift Cards have discount prices but not the Coles ones???

Does it mean Woolworths' prices are overpriced / more expensive or profitable than Coles?

    • From what I can tell most products are priced pretty much the same, especially when they come on special.

Woolworths appear to be keen to lure more customers into their shops. They are willing to sacrifice margin to do so. Price differentiation - different people pay different prices for the same product.

It certainly works on us, we have basically stopped shopping at Coles since we ran out of the discounted gift cards (they used to have them too up to a couple of years ago).

      • Uhh ok, Coles did have them before…

  • It's a good deal if you get one of those $10 off "we miss you" coupons.

  • how much time Woolworths egift card takes to arrive in ur email?
I know it says 12 hours but does it takes that much time?
