$2.25 Per Litre - Cheaper than A2 Milk.

But Pascol paint isn't marketed as a snake oil.

And tastes like shit in coffee.

        • A2 milk doesn't give good cover over other colours

  • Will Bunning hit back?

    • +1

      Probably with their crappy brand

  • I recently used some of that paint. 2 coats should have been enough on a pre-primed surface, but I needed 3 to achieve sufficient opacity. Not impressed.

I used it last year and 2 coats was fine when using a roller.

    • +1

At the price I wouldn't complain

Cheap paint is cheap for a reason. It is usually purchased to repaint before moving out of a rental, not the kind you would use on your own place unless you enjoyed repainting.

I must agree here. I have used the pascol on my Mancave and it is miles different than the Dulux Wash n Wear we used on our last place.

Broadly - it marks easily and doesn't clean well.

However - the price difference was phenomenal and Id use it again at least in the man cave. Might use it on the main house. It really depends on the level of finish you are looking for. I don't mind a mark here or there and over the whole house would save well over $1000.

    • Think i'm going to have to get some now, am moving in the next few months…
      Thanks for the idea

  • It should be called "ready to come off your walls"

I used this stuff to paint a timber bed frame a few weeks ago . Had primed it first with a primer and came out really good. Good value for money I say!

If you know how to paint, then two layers is enough.

    • Not if the paint manufacturer skimps on Titanium Dioxide. This one unfortunately did.

      • +5

Titanium is for girls. Real men use Adamantium.

So I've used this on my house in a couple of places. On the wall, roof and skirting boards it's been great (gloss and Matt), sticks well, only two layers needed. On the door however it's not been good. The gloss paint chips when the frame makes contact with the door. I've resanded down to the wood, primed and repainted, same result. So it's horses for courses. For walls and roof you can't fault it.

My painter who is a 65 year dude said "Pascal is s**t paint, don't bother with it", when I was about to buy it. I avoided his decision once in regards to staining my deck and within 3 months, I had to fork out a fortune to repaint the deck again with the paint he recommended… I guess experience matters :P

    • what did you end up using? looking to paint the house and have no idea what to use.

Do you have children / grandchildren / pets running around?

I have children and in the last house I cheaped out slightly and regretted it. Next time I'm using Dulux Wash n Wear or equivalent, won't be cheap by any means but cheaper paints doesn't like you washing off stains. If you have a children drawing on the walls your paint surface will quickly look ordinary and the end result? More painting…

If you answered no to all of the above, save some money and get something cheap like this deal perhaps.

  • Good tip - I bought the 10 litre antique cream and didn't like the colour (too yellow). I bought a sample pot of pure black paint and added a bit to the paint. I got a very nice (and fashionable) light grey. I was only doing 1 room so wasn't scientific about it. Obviously take care if you are doing your whole house or you will run out and have different coloured walls!

    • Brave, I'd be too scared to do that. Though if it's only 1 room and you made sure you have some left over I guess it's okay. You could always get them to match up the colour later but in my experience colour matches are never a true "match".

      • I agree it was a risk and no way I could duplicate colour even with colour matching - but I decided on grey and it turned out really well. I still have 2 litres if I need to touch up.

        • 2L spare paint. Sounds like you pulled it off nicely then - well done :)
