  • Argentina is amazing!! take an advantage of their fallen currency))))

      And zika, maybe

      • -2

Yup, that is what I was thinking. Ladies, pack those birth control pills.

        • tried that but not really helpful

        • -1

That was not a flippant comment. At the moment with the Zika virus the last thing you want to do on this holiday is risk getting pregnant.

      • Zika isn't in Argentina. It's probably more like to stay in more tropical places too like Brazil and higher up in South America.

    • and get a selfi with dolphin before you kill it :)

  • I couldn't find the magical $999 Price from Melbourne during those dates? Cheapest I found was $1029 http://imgur.com/EySiTXS

      For Melb try:
      Dep 26/Apr ret 27/May

  • OP nice deal, airfares to Sth America are always $$$ and Air NZ is a great tier 1 carrier.

THAT SAID….couldn't help but notice this trivial but ugly story today, which I'm sure isn't indicative of Argentines but moreso how thoughtless and stupid people in general are.

    http://www.smh.com.au/world/baby-dolphin-dies-after-being-pa…

Let's grab a rare baby dolphin from out of it's natural habitat and then while it's clearly distressed pass it around so we can all get a f*%$ing selfy photo with it!!! And oops whodathunkit, it's now dead.

Fart in a hurricane of an example but in 2016 this is what we've evolved to as a species? :-/

    • Yea, very sad state of affairs……

Hopefully it educates everyone else on what NOT to do…

    • Not sure why you felt the was the correct place to post this…

      • -1

Merely a segue comment as it was literally in the news today - so no different or more off-topic from someone saying the BBQ in Argentina is amazing or go see Boca Juniors play etc. :-)

And to be fair unlike MANY posters on OzB I made sure my post contained specific feedback on the actual OP's deal as well. :-)

Smh is not a reliable source.watch the videos

  • No, that's just an example of simple stupidity and ignorance. I would be shocked if any of those people actually wanted to kill that dolphin.

In 2016 the human species has evolved into much, much worse deliberate and heinous acts toward animals and other human beings.

Rather than call out some brown people as an example, worse can be found and it is also not necessary to travel to the other side of the world to find it either. Logan, a few clicks up the highway is a suburb that seems to bust out a murder every few weeks and put on other daily acts of depravity, violence and mayhem. Every city in oz seems to have their housos/version too.

    Cracking price OP

    • Rather than call out some brown people as an example

Oh FFS…is that really how you're going to refer to the Argies? I agree that this is a silly incident to pick as a reason to not go there, for the reasons noted by you and others, but to refer to them as "some brown people" is a tedious way to describe the example above.

Yes, I shouldn't have responded to a way off topic post and once I posted it I immediately regretted it.

As a brown-skinned foreigner, I guess I get a little over-sensitive to the finger pointing and hypocrisy.
Of course in my home country we enjoy pointing out the failings of the other tribe/country too lol. Certainly much more satisfying than confronting, 'home truths'

Meanwhile the WA government went on a 3 month shark massacre.

So despite the fact I clearly stated,"…which I'm sure isn't indicative of Argentines but moreso how thoughtless and stupid people in general are." You have, for reasons best known to yourself perceived this as a racially based vilification/attack as I've 'called out some brown people?????

With all due respect that is the single stupidest thing I've read on here in a long time - and thats REALLY saying something.

SO…. despite the fact I've said I'm sure it's not an Argentinian thing and the fact that a large % of the Argentine population is of direct European lineage with very fair skin AND the tiny detail that I stated the ENTIRE human species is at fault - YOU'VE decided I'm going after folks with skin melanin levels like yourself????

Friendly advice…..READ the post, use that thing between your ears and respond if required. In THAT ORDER, not in reverse.

Oh and nice 'some brown people' reference you've quite the way with words. ;-)

Yay just booked my flights! $999 return from Sydney 26/6 to 22/7(sometimes it comes up as $1029 but price goes down once you select the flight)

  • Thats in incredible price. Never seen Sth America under $1200!

  • +1

Zika must be biting the prices down.

  • +1

US flights are cheaper due to AUD going down.
South America will be cheaper as Zika spreads.

Hurrah! I've always wanted to cuddle dolphins, now I can!

  • Anyone knows about the entry requirements for Aussies? Heard US$160 entry fee is payable! Is this correct? Anyone been there, done that? cheers

    • +2

$100US payable online before you go. There have been a few stories of people trying to pay at the airport but not allowed and being turned around. I did it last year and online was no problem. I did print a copy of the receipt and the guy at AEP briefly looked at it when we were going. From memory it is valid for one year from the date of payment (not entry) and for multiple entries within that year. Loved Iguassu Falls btw.

      • Ohh that wouldn't be much fun!

        • +3

No sympathy for them. Only took 15 mins on line to do 2 adults and a child a couple of nights before we left. People spend weeks planning a big trip but won't spend 5 mins checking the immigration requirements. The visa fee applies no matter if you arrive by plane, boat, car etc and it's very clear on the argentine site in plain English.
