Kids Space Basketball System (Full Size Ring, up to 310cm Height) - $63.20 Delivered @ Target eBay

470
CTARGET

Yes it looks a bit flimsy, and yes it had 'kids' in the title - and no, I would not advise jam contests after a few coldies - but i nabbed one for some backyard hoops

Or you could get one for the kids I guess

Ring is full size, it goes up to 310cm so looks to be full size in height and backboard looks to be big enough at about 80cm wide, judging by package dimensions

I reckon ill get decent stability after a few more bolts/ brackets and maybe an extra concrete slab or two - would be ideal if you can get the pole up against a fence/side of house , garage etc

Free delivery and 20% off - goes for $79 + delivery on the website - mine has been marked as shipped so boomshakalakka!!

Yeh - max size of 310cm with full size ring so should be ok

Pretty good price for delivered, for once you don't have to jump through hoops to get the deal…

OP - You hereby MUST show us a pic of your completed Pimped out Basketball Ring, complete with added bolts and concrete slabs. Hell, I'd suggest you even rig up a Trampoline next to it haha!

I have something similar and have had two main issues:
    1. Stability - filled the base with water and it has been ok - but wouldn't be for anything too aggressive,
    2. Backboard is dead - so you get no bounce off it and it doesn't react the way a real backboard would.
Otherwise, good for a bit of fun.

As i said… More bolts, more concrete!

A brace behind the ring should go a long way to getting more rebound

More weight on the base will help with lateral movement

  • Tempted to get one and lock it in the park nearby with bicycle chains for personal use. Can't fit this inside a 200sqm apartment.

      Which park?

Also, anyone know of a bargain on bolt cutters?

    • Haha good luck with that. I'll provide the WIFI Video Camera and film what happens on the 1st night.

      • Sydney North Shore has a few small parks. I don't think the wealthy people there bother to spend time destroying a $70 property.

      • The dudes who nick the bball hoop will likely nick your camera too

        • I'll hide it in a tree?

        • @rawm: what if coprocesor chains the hoop to the tree and the thieves cut down the tree to free the hoop?

        • @pointless comment: That's a thought. I hope his neighbourhood isn't that ruthless.

        • Very true. Reminds me of Regency Tafe SA. Only thing stolen more than the cars is the cameras watching them in the carpark.

I would dunk the hell out of this thing (after setting it to like 1.6m high).

    • Think min height is 2.6 champ!

Wow. Was thinking to get one this afternoon and here comes a deal. Thanks OP bought one for the kids.

  • Just set mine up. For the life of me can't seem to get it any higher than about 9ft rim height. Surely when they say goes upto 310cm, they wouldn't be talking about the top of the backboard would they?

    • Isn't standard adult ring height is 10 feet which is about 305cm?

      • Yeah, they quote 310cm height. But doesn't go near that high. currently looking for a dumped coffee table by the side of the road to put it on. No way I want to undo it and take it back to target.

        • Just looked at the dimensions on the front of the assembly instructions the vertical height is to the top of the backboard. What a load of crap.

        • @bobdobal: that explains it. Kids ring is 8 feet high.

Put mine up over the weekend…and its 310cm from top of back board …spewing.

You can get an extra few inches with careful adjustment of the poles, but still is 35cm short

Still had a bunch of fun on it yesterday but need to work out how to raise it - Way more sturdy than i thought

Im thinking 4 milk crates + maybe some painted mdf to get it up to height - anyone got better ideas?

      • I have taken your tip, got four milk crates, no mdf. Haven't measured but feels the right height. Seems just as stable as if it were on the ground.

        • Hey mate, how's the crates holding up? Gonna try to get round to raising our this weekend, cheers

        • @pointless comment: Pretty good. Surprised really, feels as stable as the ground.

@bobdobal: the fact you replied is good enough for me…if u didnt get back to me id figured youd be pinned by the ring on the ground
