  • I have used many Dvico players, i just dont see why this one is priced so high and it looks odd. if it was 50-80 cheaper it would be a steal .

In saying that this is the cheapest price form static ice

I used to have the 5130 that looks like a keg, i had to chage model to the 4130 just to lose the weird shape.

  • USB3 is going to become common item. Not sure whether this unit can read usb3 drive.

    • Requirement of USB3 format is to be backward compatible -> therefore a non issue.

  • Similarly priced as a WDTV Live so I think it's reasonable. Does it accept a hard drive? SATA?

    • It doesn't accept an internal HDD. External USB or Network only. The advantage of this is that the unit is silent as no internal fan.

  • cant record TV to it can you?

I still live my TIVX box.
under 100 bux, doesnt do H264 and mkv. does have hdmi but only at 1080i.

fine for normal TV shows though…

  • "cant record TV to it can you?"

This unit doesn't accept recording from an external source. Thanks

    • +1

Or any internal recording like the higher end models ie this is not a PVR

      • seems a bit excessive considering its just a media player, most DVD players have USB that play divx etc…

  • What a funny looking piece of equipment…

    • +1

or "Innovative Design" as Dvico likes to call it :)

  • i don't like it when companies try to be too weird just for the sake of being different, if more people think like the first poster i.e "i had to change model to the 4130 just to lose the weird shape" they should just drop it, look at most pc cases-they look similar with only minor differences, but people still buy them in droves…

  • Too weird. Doesn't go well with my TV/Hi-fi setup. I rather have a square/rectangular box.

  • nice design. pretty cool i reckon. i need a media player but i prolli just go with asus o!play. its about $145. i wonder if this has any advantages over the asus apart from the design due to the price.
