  • For how long?

    • "Just see it is advertised in my FB but don't know when it is expired."

  • If that coupon was listed on CR you could get it for 31 cents potentially.

  • I always wanted a daddy

  • I got an error when trying to apply the coupon: "This is a limited promotion."

Maybe because I'm an existing customer.

    • Try the direct link I've just updated.

  • Only for the first year and given it is .com just about anything slightly useful will be squatted on already. :(

  • Please delete if not allowed, but you can also get a .com with private registration for $4.50 (1st year) with code 'cjcrmn2cp'.
This is good for those who do not want to have their details publicly searchable through a Whois service.

You use your real life details when registering a .com?

  • Limited to only one domain per customer. Who in their right mind registers only one domain?

      ?

    It's a trap!

Why? Please explain to the uneducated ;~]

Godaddy tries to make money out of you in a great many ways. The renewal process tries to trick you into "additional services". They will publish your full registration details (all your private contact details) online, unless you pay them to hide it. Other providers (e.g. Gandi, but also others) hide your whois information for free.

Thanks Make it so. I appreciate the response. Would iprimus know how to configure my account if got a domain name for my business?

        • +2

@ticket65: Not sure what type of service you have from iPrimus, but many domain name registrars permit email forwarding. The ideal solution is hooking up your domain to a Google Apps account, so that you can have multiple users and other useful features tied to your domain. But Google Apps is no longer free, I think (I got mine before they started charging). Although some articles suggest you can still get it free for a single user. Not sure myself - haven't tried that.

If I need a domain for my business, I don't mind if everybody can see my whois information.
If I am a newbie and need a domain to start or test something. It is better to pay $1 (or $5 with whois protection) rather than $12.
You can point the domain to a VPS at http://fortacloud.co with the setup fee $1 for lifetime (I used one for year without any problem).
And you can also get free genuine SSL certificates at http://letsencrypt.org ( cost $100+ elsewhere)
