VentraIP - 5% Domain Name Price Beat

40

"Seen your ideal domain name cheaper?
We won't just match it - we'll beat it by 5%*
Simply provide us with your contact details and some necessary information about the domain name you’d like to match. We’ll get back to you ASAP with a coupon code!"

Just came across this on their Facebook page.

This is the first i've come across a registrar offering this sort of thing, so i'd deem it as a deal considering it's a price match type of thing.

Nice concept but somewhat defunct if they don't match renewals. You should only use a registrar after checking their renewal prices. VentraIP are pretty good for renewals though so no real issues there.

If you have more than a few dozen domains it's worth looking at reseller packages like Synergy Wholesale to see if your yearly outgoings would be lower.

  • Just transferred some domains to crazy domains, quite happy with them.

      lol x2

  • You have to tell them the domain you want BEFORE you register it?

Sounds like a great way for them to speculatively register it first, then sell it back to you for a much higher price. Then they'll say the 5% discount is for new domains only, this one is already registered sorry.

    • How do you plan on getting the price match/beat if you were to register it already?

        renewal?
I agree, why do they need to know the domain you're rego'ing before you rego it? The domain suffix/type I understand so they can get the pricing, but Zzymurgy is right, it's a great way to steal your domain name before you rego it (Not that I think it would happen in this case)

        • I don't think VentraIP would actually do that either. But this is an awful idea, luckily they are MUCH better at internet stuff than they are at marketing.
