writing a resume is not a problem. Answering Govt selection criteria is another problem all on its own.

That's why they work so well; gets rid of the not so serious applicants.

Rule #1 is dot point everything, and I mean everything.

Rule #2 is proof read and spell check.

Rule #3 is don't go overboard on the elaborating.

Try and keep it impersonal and to the point. Keep a copy for future applications to enable an easier process for the next application.

The above has helped me land a few positions in the past. I also keep my details updated in their files, so I am notified of upcoming positions as they occur.

    • Oh the confusion. The problem is its a pain not that i cant answer them.

      • Don't know what position you are seeking, but I received an email just over a week ago asking for applicants for temporary supervisory positions. These positions are required later in the year. If you are already in the system …

        • Thanks. I was a substantiated EL2 before i got out of the system to pursue personal aspirations. Unless a war breaks out on home soil i doubt i will return to public service.

Im assuming you are referring to centrelink? They always have a temp employment register.

        • @captobvious: You are very welcome.

Actually not Centrelink; this would be far more interesting and I would suggest demanding. Check online at Australian Bureau of Statistics. This year the Census will be held on August 9.

I also register with Australian Electoral Commission and the Victorian Electoral Commission.

        • @JediJan: that may actually be interesting gathering all that information and it would be a well funded project to complete within a relatively short time frame by government standards. The G20 was another good one, bottomless budget.

        • @captobvious: A good way to increase the exercise regime too; have found I lost a little weight without trying!
