PLEX collected all the poster, actor names, synopsys etc from internet automatically. and i can search for them for example i can search all my movie directed by Steven Spielberg

  • Interested to see what sound setup people use.

    Sharp Aqueos 50"

(also Plex for AppleTV, switch to iTunes US for HBONow for GoT when in season)
Foxtel IQ HD ($10/mth for Free to Air with HD channels)
Xbox 1 with streaming to Win10 PC

Jamo 606 speaker set+old onkyo reciever
Modded pioneer BDP-150 that plays blu ray isos of the network
    Wd my cloud as nas

    • How did you mod the BDP-150? Do you just use MakeMKV to rip ISOs or something else?

    Infocus X9 720p Projector - $113.50 eBay

Pioneer VSX-517 - $250 from Pioneer refurb store back in the day
HTPC AMD Athlon64 - $110 off Gumtree 7 years ago
Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse from some deal here - $60
HD Set Top Box - $5 at local fete

I have a 65" FHD Samsung TV connected to my PC via HDMI with a wireless keyboard and mouse. Sound is through a Sony Muteki 7.2 home theater system which I got a JB for 50% off.

I've just recently got into linking programs and systems based on a comment @eisniwre made in another forum post. I ended up finding an awesome guide on how to set up all of the systems. It is Sonarr and Couchpotato which link to Deluge for downloads and then all appears in Plex. The guide is here and takes a couple of hours to set up but once it's done you'll see the magic of the ultimate server. The guide is here: http://www.cuttingcords.com/home/ultimate-server/getting-sta…

I'm currently getting an error between Sonarr and please about unable to connect to remote host, @eisniwre, can I PM you to see if you might be able to help me figure out the missing link?

Apart from that it's a epic set up

Not sure about the remote host

Have a similar system set up with Plex, Sonarr and Couchpotato + Deluge.
Really a gem. Even the missus can download latest episode and automatically gets sorted in media folder
      - running sources from P2P but have been reading UseNet may be better

      • Yeah I've been thinking about going to UseNet, couldn't justify paying when everything else is done via ah me hearties

      • Do you mind if I PM you with the error I'm getting with more information?

Tried to PM and said that you don't accept new convos

        • sure let me try to find where that setting is

        • @ggkfc:

I figured it out, I'm an idiot, it was because I had two downloaders set up and it didn't know what to do.

I had utorrent and deluge, disabled deluge and started working.

Problem solved, epic server is now done and to top it off go a flyer saying NBN is being constructed in my street!

        • @Jemz:

haha let me know if you have any good experiences with usenet, might take the plunge

        • @ggkfc:

Currently running it with torrents and haven't started usenet.

          I read this; http://www.htpcguides.com/comparing-usenet-vs-torrents/

Pretty good info about it, there's one which includes a VPN.

I'll research more before taking the plunge

Most of the time I can find what I want with torrents anyway

Panasonic 55" plasma + old marantz amp into technics floor-standers + xbone + Windows 7 htpc hard wired to modem router with dual tv tuner, plex and windows media centre & media browser used as PVR and to send TV to xbox 360 extenders (also has browser so netflix, presto stan. Youtube)

2 other tvs with xbox 360s for live tv and plex in bedroom and open living area

Recently setup out door projector - no name $50 pj off gumtree onto a 100" screen i DIYed from scrap wood and curtain material + another xbox 360 + $20 bluray player + lepai 2020 amp into old but nice clarion car speakers in boxes. Also chucked the chromecast in it for presto amd youtube

TVs and PC bought new, everything else off gumtree

Everything is hassle free and just a pleasure to use - no bugs whatsoever. In case youa re wondering, you can easily run two xboxes on live TV and surf net at the same time on home network - modem is bog standard telstra one so nothing fancy there

Great post BTW - a good read while all the other bargain lemmings whip themselves into a frenzy over the tree-fitty theyll save on the ebay promo.

    • What's the cheapo PJ like?
      Is it LED or HID?

Friends keep thinking of buying one and I keep telling them they're dreaming if they think it's going to be a comparable to my setup!
Although I've never actually seen one.

Im not really well versed in PJs - but PQ is pretty good id say. Blu rays look nice, DVD quality rips are good enough at screen size of about 2M wide and about 3-5m viewing distance. Its a metal halide lamp. Has a few dead pixels but not really noticable. Tell your mates If they see one for under $100 pointless comment says "go for it"

  • Seiki 55" -under $500
Panasonic 5.1 surround sound/bluray - came with old TV
    Raspberry Pi running Kodi/XBMC,
connected to network, netflix/youtube apps, and old laptop hard drive -$40
All HDMI CEC compatible, so the remote that came with my TV controls everything.
-and the pi is powered by the TV USB port.

  • 40" soniq. Android TV Box with Youtube & Kodi/TV Addons

  • 55" LG 4K Smart TV (Got in Dick Smith sale before Chrissie for $599)
LG Sound Plate (Also purchased in the sale for $54)
XB1 Halo Edition (Target sale for $420)

TV picks up my media server and plays all of that. XB1 is obviously good for games and the occasional Blueray. Sounds Plate is a significant improvement on TV Speakers.

Don't watch a lot of TV outside of sport and the occasional movie so the simple set up works very well.

  • 65" samsung TV
7.1 Onkyo amp hooked up to a 10" downward firing Klipsch sub, Jamo centre speaker, and bi-wired QAcoustics 2020i side speakers

I need a NAS though - currently just using windows 10 PC as my media storage haha
