  • Supermarket dumps

  • Big W has various different sizes for free.

The best one would be in Manchester department, boxes are clean, large and sturdy.

just be aware, if you go to a supermarket or liquor store, all boxes are split and crushed as soon as the contents are removed. They don't "store" boxes.

If I had $1 every time I told someone that, i'd probably have $100

  • I used to raid a DSEs cardboard recycling bin.

  • Definitely Bunnings. As Davo said, supermarkets crush all their boxes immediately. And they probably won't save them for you.

  • I always get my moving boxes from the good guys. They always have heaps of boxes out the back of their stores!

  • Freecycle. Moving boxes (proper ones with hanging rails & double walled) come up everyday

  • I heard that our local Coles supermarket would save boxes if you ask them, didn't try it though.

I saw a sign on our local Jaycar saying if you wanted boxes just ask, as they had to pay to get rid of them to recycling. So I visited a couple of times and got a heap of fairly uniform sized boxes by going through their recycle bin after they told me which day was best to visit. Look for a place that gets deliveries of smaller items and ask them. Fantastic furniture wasn't a good option, their boxes were all weird sizes and no good for packing stuff into.

  • Our local Cellarbrations & BWS both stack their boxes out front of their shop for people to take away. Since they started doing it, the manager said he rarely has to crush any & has cut down on the time they used to have to spend crushing.

I'd ring around to the local bottle shops & ask.

    Good luck!

      really?

I suppose it depends how big the store is. In a small store you crush them and stack them in "bails". Which was a bit time consuming.

In a big store (i.e. one connected with a supermarket) you just take them downstairs and throw them in "the crusher", which is the coolest machine ever
