Thats interesting, I wonder if Dick Smith receivers are responsible for this. Dumping excess stock via Grays.
    Crappy price, sorry OP.

    • What makes you think this stock is from Dick Smith?. Dick Smith wasn't the sole retailer of Panasonic Eneloop batteries.

I said "I wonder" as it coincides with the receivership and they seemed to have endless supplies of Eneloops.

It's confirmed. I spoke with one of the managers of one of the concessions (they were shutdown recently) and stock was put with Grays Online, be wary if buying from their site because of buyer's premiums etc. I doubt we will ever see 70% off sales again. I wonder how much value they get back from the stock, probably less per unit than if they sold them in-store at 'crazy' discounts but more after considering wages, rent other overheads to keep the operation ongoing.

I have been monitoring laptop prices as I need a new PC but prices are hardly that great (especially considering a lot is reconditioned, ex-display). Only really good if you need components and are willing to take a risk on quality failed stock (stock which doesn't turn on or display due to mainboard or screen failures).

Better buy from Dell Outlet and elsewhere if you are looking for a refurb. Most on offer seem to be market price or overpriced considering second-hand/reconditioned status (also note last gen or prior processors and GFX cards so most not as powerful or efficient as current models).

Market price.. Find me a better deal if the price is so poor.

  • I've never ventured into the world of eneloops… yet!

Is this actually a good price? (Considering no more Dick Smith deals now)

Do I need their specific charger for these or will any battery charger do?

    TIA.

      no

      • To both questions? I mean Dick Smith website still lists the Sanyo Eneloop (4pk) for $24. These are Panasonic and an 8pk.

        • So what do you mean by this seems expensive to what these have sold for in past?

        • @bwatt99:

I'm trying to find out if this is a good price before buying. tyler.durden seems to think no, but I'm saying that DSE still lists the Sanyo 4pk ones for the price of these Panasonic 8pk ones, so it seems like a good price to me.

          @Firey1989:
These Chinese things have been selling for as little as $15 in the past!
Edit: And lower in quantities or stacked deals!

  • They are the lower quality China ones, too. A no-deal for me. I want my $5 packs back ;)

      Evidence?

      • 65% on package = China :) You're welcome :)

        Evidence?

Evidence? Are you for real? The 4 years you've been here, did you take a break for the past 2?

Don't know about $5, but some people have had insane deals when they've bought multiples with stacked discounts.

And if you mean about the China thing?… Well!!! Apart from the fact that we all know that the Pano 2100 cycle Tropos and Chocs we get here are Chinese… it's written in black and white BK-3MCCE!

        • I'm just saying just because they are Made in China doesn't mean the quality is any less.

        • @CLoSeR:
Correct, it shouldn't automatically make them any lesser quality… except in this case where they were proven very quickly to be of lesser quality than their Japanese derivatives!!!

        • @CLoSeR:
You are right CloSer as a general principle, but as Snoop said, extensive testing have proven the Chinese made ones to be far inferior to the Japanese ones. As for the price - do a search for 8 packs of Eneloops here on Ozbargain. Consistently under $20 for years. More like ~$14 for much of the time.
