    • Hi SrMoure,

I couldn't find the complete edition among there. Was this included in the deal, or just the standard edition?

      • -2

"Complete" edition is just standard + DLC and Enemy Within I think. Link here.

The "beat the average" tier of the Humble Bundle includes all that stuff - currently at US$10.22 so slightly more expensive but you also get a bunch of other games.

        • -1

How is $15 cheaper than $8?

        • -1

@ScruffTheJanitor: Umm… I didn't say it was cheaper. In fact, I said it was "more expensive but you also get a bunch of other games". I was just providing information. Perhaps you're confusing me for the first commenter?

        • @SuperMatty: On top of that you buy from a reliable source, not a cdkey re-seller

        • @SrMoure: I noticed the Savemi site goes to a lot of pains to state they are selling authorised keys.
About Us and What is Code Stripping

I certainly applaud the attempt to raise awareness of the issues but I still don't know how the average customer is supposed to verify who is an authorised key reseller and who isn't. We're just supposed to trust them I guess?

I realise this is a complex issue and game publishers have to accept some of the blame because they don't tend to publish lists of their "official" resellers, but it just leaves me very skeptical about any sellers I haven't heard of.

I'd love to hear from @Savemi on this topic because I actually am interested in it. I just don't see any good solution to the problem yet.

Some more food for thought via Reddit on Key Reselling and more here on /r/GameDeals' recent issues with a particular seller's struggle to prove their legitimacy.

        • @SuperMatty:

Great post SuperMatty. Im going to sit down and read each of those articles - thank you.

Yes we are small, but that shouldn't reflect our reliability. We are approved by all of the publishers that we represent. For example: Ubisoft. For those publishers that we do not have approval (EA for example) we do not sell their product.

We have spent the better part of the last 18 months sourcing. We started out with 6 publishers and about 200 products. Now over 300 publishers and over 4500 products.

It is certainly difficult as the little guy to convince others of legitimacy. a) because there are a few sharks out there b) we don't have the marketing budget to make a real song and dance. We rely on word of mouth and getting some exposure via sites like this, who are good enough to let us post.

You are right in that there is no quick fix or easy answer to getting credibility. So we keep banging on about being authorized and raising awareness of the issues out there - like code stripping (which I personally find repugnant)

For those that have used us, they will agree that our codes all work. If there are any problems - we work with the customer and the publisher to sort it out (whilst filtering out fraud). As quickly as we possibly can - depending on publisher response times (if they need to get involved). 99% of the issues we have had are people buying Uplay & Rockstar keys trying to activate through Steam. Once we forward the details of how to activate - its all good.

So all I can really say is 'give us a go'. And keep the money (ie taxes and profits) and jobs in Australia. If you have an issue, email me direct and I'll sort it out.

          Thanks for letting us post

  • thanks, been wanting to get into this before xcom 2.

    • You're Welcome

  • What is code stripping?

      • +1

        Thanks for the information.

Personally, despite what you have shown me, I have only one issue with code stripping and that's the environmental one. I think it is unethical for a publisher to price a product differently based on the affluence of the market they are selling in.

This grey market isn't an issue in Australia, purely because we have parallel importing laws to combat regional pricing. I am reasonable sure that if challenged, this behaviour would fall under that category of activity.

The environmental issue is, of course, a bigger one and I would certainly hope that code strippers would at the very least recycle the packaging etc.

        • Hi Brent - the idea of the environmental waste leaves a sour note. The companies doing the code stripping are all about $. They will use the most cost effective means of disposal - whatever that may be.

Publisher pricing in different regions is unethical. What's more they cut their nose off to spite their face - in terms of branding and retail support.

I have to say that Bethesda are the best at defending their brands, 2K are not too far off.

We have had 2 experiences lately with other publishers that just make you shake your head.

          1) A small publisher demanding that we fix our prices to market levels. So I sent back that it was illegal in this country. And here is auction site prices (about 1/3). You fix that and Ill fix mine.

          2) A recent release. Our buy price was X. Publisher demanding we retail at Y. Day before launch, I get offered the product (another supplier, still legit) offered us half X. The game showed up on an auction site 25% cheaper again. I almost put up a link from our site saying "Do not buy from us".

          Its a fun industry.

  • OP is this edition cross platform i.e., works for Mac too? I have XCOM: Enemy Unknown for Mac already but this bundle gives me Enemy Within too.
