Free Short Course: Mobile Game Development with Charles Sturt University

190

This short introduction course teaches students the basic principles of mobile game development using Unity, a powerful cross-platform game engine that utilises C# for high-level game logic, creating smooth pipelines between desktop, console and mobile devices. Unity is the engine behind titles like Infinity Blade, Angry Birds 2, Crossy Road and many more.

By the end of the short course, students will be familiarised with the Unity interface and have learned broad concepts for Unity project structure and management. They will be able to create simple playable games similar in style to the classics of the gaming industry, like Pong, Super Breakout or Space Invaders.

This short course will run over 4 weeks in February 2016.

This course is free to undertake.

  • lol beat me by 2 minutes :)

  • How are the courses lately? I tried a mobile development course early on and gave up due to the lack of consistency and maturity in the content.

    • This one is from a University, which one did you use before?

    • I did the free digital forensics short course with Charles Sturt last year, found it useful

  • What about this certificate is something official or just like kindergarten stuff?

    • worst than kindergarten. Cert looks retard for a university standard

      • quod erat demonstrandum

    • Sounds to be just a document to certify you for credit within the university itself.

Completion of the course can qualify for credit in to the Charles Sturt University degrees featured on this website.

I wouldn't expect other tertiary institutions to recognise it.

  • +2

Infinity Blade is Unreal engine. Unity is great though and surprisingly I've seen projects looking for Unity developers at my Uni.

    • +1

Infinity Blade was even created by Epic Games, those that create the Unreal Engine.

How did the University get that so wrong? Great advertisement there.

      • So stupid considering how many great games (and shit games) are based on the Unity.

  • Sorry probably a stupid question but is this online or face to face?

    • The course is online with weekly live lecture/tutorials delivered via Webinar.
The first weekly Webinar is 7:00 – 8:00pm, Monday 1st February AEDT (Australian Eastern Daylight Time UTC +11). If you are unable to make the live Webinar, you can view a recording and then ask questions on the course forum.
