  • I was on Singapore airlines Singapore-Brisbane a few weeks ago and I met a guy who just codeshared on Lufthansa. From the Sweden to Singapore flight there was no TV screens on the plane…

    • +3

Lufthansa does not fly Sweeden to Singapore.

He would have flown Sweeden —> Frankfurt then Frankfurt to Singapore. If he had connected via Munich there would have been TVs in the back of the seats.

      • Sweden not Sweeden :D

      • You beat me to saying that. I get the picture that there's some LH haters out there.

i have to say this is not a killer deal. i flew with luftansia in november last year on a world ticket and i payed $2200 including taxes for sydney to los angeles, los angeles to new york, new york to london, london to frankfurt, and frankfurt to tokyo, tokyo to sydney.

i can tell you there are definitely no tv's on back of seat unless you fly business or first class. there are only overhead tv's which cater to one channel only.

this deal is not cheap at all considering you can get to europe on other airlines for under that price.

    • +2

Depends on which route you take. The bargain is for a flight from an Australian city operated by a Lufthansa codeshare to Singapore (eg Singapore Airlines or Qantas), then onwards to Europe. The codeshare flights do have TVs in the back of the seat.

You would then connect to a Lufthansa flight Singapore - Frankfurt/Munich.

The flights to Munich (Airbus A330) have TVs in the back of every seat in economy class.

The flights to Frankfurt (Boeing 747) do not have TVs in the back of every seat.

      You claim:

considering you can get to europe on other airlines for under that price

      Name them please.

      This is a good deal.

        • -2

Nice try. Now how about from the East coast?

          • @YesPleaseThankYou: Um. Isn't the price quoted for this deal in the title from Perth?

EDIT And I'm not trying to prove you wrong or anger you or whatever. You asked a question. I thought I was helping. If your questions are rhetorical, I'd appreciate if you made it clear you didn't care if there was an answer.

                @YesPleaseThankYou: Yes.

                "from as little as AUD1515"

The "from" parts means other cities are more expensive. Perth is the only one $1515.

@[Deactivated]: And Sydney is AUD 1539.

@YesPleaseThankYou: Somehow I get the feeling your original question was rhetorical. But since you insist on not actually checking for yourself…

= $617 one way including all taxes

I eagerly await for you to change the goal posts again. I'm sure if you change the question you originally asked enough times you'll get the response (or lack thereof) you're after.

@[Deactivated]: He who makes a claim should provide the evidence to back that up.

                      That was my point.

                    • -2

@[Deactivated]: This deal is about a return flight, not the one-way you have quoted.

Further, those fares you have quoted will require the traveller to carry their own bags between flights. The Lufthansa deal is smooth-sailing. This can be a significant issue for many people.

Also, Stanstead London is not Germany.

You might want to start comparing apples with apples.

                      • @YesPleaseThankYou: I was simply responding to your request. I've made no claims it's the same. I'm not suggesting people should do this instead. You can use adioso and find a return trip yourself - I'm sure you won't since you clearly don't care.

Next time you ask people to name something, please don't change what you want named after you get a response.

                        • -3

@[Deactivated]: Someone else made the claim and you interjected into that.

Please read the whole thread to see where you are wrong.

                          • -1

@YesPleaseThankYou: So an accurate response to your post is pointless because it wasn't answered by the same guy?

So you're essentially looking for an argument, not information?

                            • -4

                              @[Deactivated]: No.

The point is that the person who made the claim of there being cheaper should have backed up that claim at that time.

I'm not wasting any further time responding to you.

                              • @YesPleaseThankYou: Thankyou for confirming that you didn't actually want the information, but simply wanted to reprimand another poster.

    • You cannot compare to an around the world flight. Do your research and you will find that they are a different ballgame. If you can utilise one, great… if not, we need cheap europe return deals.

The only other airline you can get to Europe for under that price to my knowledge is Air Asia and there are MANY problems for me with that option. (1) AA don't take responsibility for missed connections if one of their flights runs late. This would necessitate spending a whole day & night in KL, to make sure I didn't miss my KL>LND flight. Add the costs of exit tax (not sure if there is one), airport transfers, hotel + the annoyance. (2) The AA fares quoted below only take you to London. I need to get to Europe, so would have to take a 3rd flight. That means waiting between flights, getting my bags etc all over again. If I go to Munich, I only have a short and cheap train trip to many places.

      • I have no idea what you're trying to say :D

        • -2

If only you'd said that for the get go, we could have avoided all this…

    AAAAAAAA! 3 days ago I bought Sydney-Frankfurt for $1950 with Etihad Airways…

  • What about the AirAsia or Royal Bruei deals that can be as low as $500-$800 to london?

    • +3

I don't think AirAisa anywhere near compares to Lufthansa - however I think Royal Brunei are pretty good.

    • +2

Did you factor in the $1k dignity penalty of flying a low cost carrier like AirAsia?

Having said that, all the airline nuts do seem to like Royal Brunei's cabin product. However, all their flights require at 12-18hr stop over in Brunei en route where most other carriers are pretty much straight thru after a quick 90min to change bags to their other alliance partner completing the journey.

Lufthansa often codeshare with Thai Airways which is much better as far as I'm concerned. The service on Thai is lovely, always friendly and prompt, TVs in every class (including economy) and the meals were actually quite nice. Speaking from my experience that is.

  • damnit. if i weren't so effing broke.. }:

  • bargain - managed to get return mel-frankfurt for $1605 total!

  • Well this has EXPIRED anyway. Wish I hadn't trusted the OP and had looked at the sale dates myself- sale infact finished on the 14th. Lesson learnt.

    • "Bookings must be made before 15 March 2010"

Seems pretty clear cut to me.
