Yes! I get to save 0%!!! Good deal though. Nice find.

Hahaha yeah there is no discount code, but seemed cheap without it.

    • Lol reminds me of those magnetic wrist bands that were all the rage back in 2008.

Apparently they gave you added strength or something haha

      • +1

…except that those did literally nothing, whereas this is an extensively reviewed and praised value for money bluetooth fitness tracker?

        • +5

i think montorola just meant in looks, not that they literally have the same value or purpose

    • %0 wow that is a saving

  • +2

wish it had a mini display for time.

Also, is the alarm silent? as in, by vibrations?

    • vib only

  • I have one. The apps aren't great. I use Mi Fit (NOT play store verified) and Mi Band Notify (purchased). It's cheap and I use it purely for HR monitor during exercise so it's OK

    • I leave my phone at home when running. Is it possible to track the HR without being connected to your phone and then sync the data when you finish? The HR and phone unlock are the only things I'd be interested in with this.

      • -1

        Yes.

      • Yeah they're pretty good in that regard.
They'll hang onto your data on the band for days before it needs to be synced up - not sure of the exact number of days but it's probably close to a week I'd say.

      • +5

No you can't. The HR monitoring is "on demand" so you need to do that via the app on your phone. One of the reasons I sold this and kept my Fitbit Charge HR. (The main reason was that I wanted 24/7 HR monitoring).

        • +1

Certainly can agree with that… I got one from launch ($60 AUD with TNT) and because of this, now I have sold mine.

The "on demand" makes this completely useless!

        • +1

          Oops, good shout.
I didn't even notice he said "HR".
I was only referring to the pedometer functionality, sorry AngryAlfred! :)

Word of warning though, it's very easy to lose the main capsule because it can pop out of the bracelet. I had the first version (no HR sensor) and lost it whilst running outside on my lunch break. Couldn't find it again. I very doubt they have fixed the problem. I think I'll still get one for the gym and sleep, but be careful if using it whilst running or playing sports outdoors.

    • you mean to say that someone just found a $30 bargain on the ground during their lunch break?

      • +1

        ~$15, less band cost.

    • +3

Original MiBand loop broke after about 6 months. Probably fell out three times in that time because I flexed the band unknowingly.

I bought a $2 clone band from Aliexpress @$2 and hasn't fallen out since.

      • Hmm, I might have to get one from there. I have 3 different coloured replacement bands already though. Only ever used one of them.

        • 1s size is different. Band might not work

        • @aldoduco: Well hopefully if 1S is bigger, it will be more inclined to stay in the blooming strap!

        • @aldoduco:

I have the 1S in it now, and same result.

        • @aldoduco:

1s size is different. Band might not work

          Band size is the same.

    • +1

I had the same issue. Probably because I kept flexing the band to test its rigidity. I've since used electric tape to lock it in

    • Must be doing something wrong. Both mine and my Mrs mi band module has never fallen out. Running, touch football training and games, athletics field events.. No issues here.

  • Damn. I got mine for $30+. Oh well. Still hasn't arrived yet. Wish I could cancel it and get these instead.

  • any idea how good the heart rate sensor is?

    • +1

Pretty good. I found it on par with other sensors but its not continuous. There's a review up on Home Theatre Life for those who are interested. I love mine - it's been glued to my wrist since I got it.

    • +2

I found that when you are not moving both the 1S and my Fitbit Charge HR give almost similar reading. But when you are running, the HR reading from the 1S is all over the place. Makes it pretty useless for any exercise.

      • Found the same thing. Though a having the band tighter seemed to help.

  • ordered to replace my up24 which is dying (button not working).

shipping time is quoted 15-30 days - i'm guessing they will take every one of those 30 days, right?

    • more likely

  • Note to all users -

I own the coloured original mi band, and the mi 1s.

    1. I miss coloured led notifications. (red for app1, blue for app2 etc)
    2. there is no 'band based' command to read my heart rate.
    3. the mi notifications v2 app (costs for pro) can do heart rate monitoring over time.
  • Can anyone who owns the 1S comment on whether it's able to integrate HR data with running apps like Runkeeper/Endomondo/Strava etc?

    Many thanks

    • No. However the latest version can integrate into Google Fit

      • And Apple Health Kit though HR data doesn't seem to sync in as it doesn't appear as a data source.

  • Why the comment that it's not play store verified? And in the description it says you have to register on the website and download from there… Isn't the "mi fit" app that's on the google play store and on the iTunes store all you need? That did the trick for my original mi band (which I lost). Works on Android and iPhone right? Coz I'm about to buy one for my slim Android self and for my fat iphone using brother and father .

    • The Chinese Government does not allow the Google Play store within their borders even though Android is the most popular OS over there. Each manufacturer has their own version of the Play Store which leads to a lot of crapware and malware. It also makes it challenging when a Chinese company releases software into the western world as their standards may not meet Googles idea of secure, safe or efficient. The direct download of the official apps from their site is the end result.

    • This Mi Fit app is the official app from Huami. The actual manufacturer of the Mi Band. Xiaomi have just rebranded an OEM/ODM product.

      • Says

        Xiaomi Technology

        • And the email says Huami who don't have an official website.

        • @Clear:

          maybe it is same company

        • @tyler.durden: Yes and no. Xiaomi itself only make their phones and tablets. They either own or have invested in about ~12 other companies.

Huami is backed by Xiaomi and made the mi band and Amazefit.

ZMI would be the biggest one as they make the power banks and Xiaomi slap their logo on it. Xiao Yi is responsible for all of the cameras and don't actually have any Xiaomi branding on them. They simply have Yi, but are labelled as Xiaomi by online stores.

  • Can apparently do constant monitoring of heart rate with a 3rd party app -

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mc.miband1

    • You need to pay for the pro update to use the HR monitoring. I bought this last night. You also have to keep the phone near the band. I think the app is responsible for requesting a HR check at the interval you set. It doesn't look like the band stores any HR data.

      • how much did u pay?

        and where from?

  • Anyone know if this can detect your sleep patterns like the Fitbit Charge?

    • +1

Yes, tracks length of sleep as well as periods of light and deep sleep. Even uses the HR monitor to improve its accuracy. It's pretty good although, as I said in my review, hard to determine how accurate it is. Sleep and wake times seem to be pretty spot on (i.e. around 15 mins after I actually lie down to sleep).

      • That's pretty cool. Cheers for the info!

  • I'm going to wait for another deal on the Fitbit or Vivofit as I prefer to have a status screen on the device rather than relying on an app to do everything.

  • Another question …. has anyone got one of these and know if the heart rate monitoring works with Strava?

    • Heartrate monitor only seems to be inside Xiaomi's app as it didn't sync to Apple Health kit. Other metrics such as steps go into Health Kit though

  • how accurate is the pedometer part of this when it come to driving and computer work mixed in?

  • Should I get this one (1S) or the original colour LED one.

    • I tend to wear the band loosely so HR sensor might not track that well.
    • Worried that the 1S will pop out as well, so using some tape behind it wont work since HR sensor at the back.

My last v1 colour miband dropped off my hand. Im pretty sure it was a genuine unit but perhaps the silicone band itself was fake. Purchased from Allbuys. Got a refund anyways since battery life was only 4 days.

    • Put the tape on the front

  • How do owners find the 'deep sleep' function? accurate or not? if not, please provide a % of accuracy?

  • Just so people are aware, I have 3 of the previous version (non heart rate monitor). One is one year old, just and the other two within a year. First one is dead, worked on and off for a while now completely dead, one charges but Bluetooth doesn't work and the third one has charged ok since day one but has never broadcast on Bluetooth.
TinyDeal are not an authorised dealer for Xiaomi and do not offer refunds or replacements so if it's dead tough luck.
They did apologise and gave me a 3‰ off voucher whoopy chook. The last purchase was the last time I ever bothered with Tiny Deal.
Oh and don't bother going to Xiaomi directly, they said sorry, we don't sell to Australia and you bought from an unauthorised dealer anyway.
Might open them up to have a look then bin them.
