They last a long time. I have three pairs and the others I scratched due to carelessness.
Yeah ages they bend the other way too so they're hard to break. I've lost one pair and stepped on another so I'm pretty rough with them.

The wings or legs or whatever you want to call them have a fairly big range. The bend outwards which puts less strain on the screws.
