    Paid cash too! Nice.

It could have been even cheaper if he has used a card with cashback :)

They are also clearing out the Seagate Expansion 1tb portables for $29. From the comments posted in the other Australia Post deal seems to be available Australia wide.

I agree 1TB doesn't go very far for certain things but depends what you want it for… I can see this being cheap and easy storage to expand an old game console maybe.

    • I've had more luck with Toshiba than Failgate. 1TB has plenty of uses for a lot of people anyway.

      • +1

        1tb for the masses

      • +1

Really? My Toshiba drives make weird noises and need tons of power to work. Never had a problem with Seagate.

        • +1

High failure rates. The graph in this article shows that the 1.5TB and 3TB are the worst, but there has been some improvement in 2015. 1TB isn't so bad, but I've had a lot of 5TB fail in my experience.

    • +2

Errr. Because it is usb powered and 2.5". Try to get a 1tb 2.5" for $50..

The issue however is that OP is guessing about stock.

    • -8

I guess 1TB would be more than enough for power point, word documents and spread sheets, but for the downloading generation, 1tb isn't going to cut it, and its just going to clutter the desk and take up more valuable power outlets.

      • +4

Last time I checked portable drives don't use power outlets…

      • You're off your head.

  • Again, can anyone who up voted tell us where they could find stock in store and bought at least one at this price? Unless at least 10 users say they bought one than it is just a dream deal for one user OP.

    • Agreed, I picked up the 2TB Expansion for $9.99 yesterday at Australia Post and put it in forums as I don't believe there would be any more stock left Australia wide.

      • $9.99???

      • are you sure it is 2TB or 9.99

  • Can this be used to upgrade a 500GB xbox one?

    • I believe it can!

  • Nice

Red Leader, Red Leader, I'm going in.

  • Just picked up the last one Glenferrie Rd Malvern post office.

  • Picked one up from Toronto nsw post office this morning. Cheers!

  • Last one too.

  • None in Canberra. Checked at civic post shop and the lady checked the computer for more

Toshiba was founded in 1938 as Tokyo Shibaura Electric K.K. through the merger of Shibaura Seisaku-sho (founded in 1875) and Tokyo Denki (founded in 1890). The company name was officially changed to Toshiba Corporation in 1978.

Oh I see, you were trying to be funny.

    • BargainKen, Australian for "racist"

  • None at Essendon VIC. Last one was purchased yesterday.

  • Can you take the harddrives off of these?

  • +1

None in Frankston Vic main post office

  • None at the local… & None of the 4 TB ones either..

  • I don't use Toshiba much but when I was doing desktop support it was almost always the Toshiba laptop drives dying early deaths. This was in IBm/lenovo laptops. Don't know how bad they are these days but I did have a 750 die recently, so wasn't surprised. They seem to fail a little more often then these others in my experience.

  • There was one left at Eastwood NSW post office at 11am Saturday, it closed at 1pm on Saturday. Hopefully, it's still around on Monday.

  • Couldn't see any at Burwood Plaza or Westfield (NSW).

  • Managed to get one at Lane Cove (NSW) Post Office today (1-2 hrs ago). Thanks for the post. Perhaps can give them a call to enquire about the stock level? Sorry I was getting one for my husband and forgot to ask about it.

  • hmmm…is this deal still current ?
Any recent reports of stock in Vic (well Melbourne anyway) ?

  • none on Franklin St MEL CBD

  • I got the last one at Parramatta Westfield.
